A small elven female could wield a bow like this I guess
http://www.imdb.com/gallery/ss/0401855/019.jpg.html?seq=5
And elves are much stronger than humans.. with all the tree acrobatics
they do with the use of their upperbody muscles.
(why are elves always in forests and stuff?)
(or is Laiva perhaps a vampire? Tell us immortal emmel!)

That's a freaking cross bow. She isn't using a cross bow. I was thinking
more along the lines of this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longbow
> And elves are much stronger than humans.. with all the tree acrobatics
Erm, she is not elven...

Whatever that's supposed to mean...

They aren't. At least according to Tolkien they are not. Some settled in
the forests and Legolas is actually an elven price from Mirkwood, but in
general they are as 'always in the forest' as humans. The elves are by
no means an homogenous group, although they have a certain tendency
towards living stuff - including things growing.

Not that *I* know of. She quite likes garlic, but of course that doesn't
mean anything.

She isn't? Then what is she doing in the woods all alone? That is no
place for a little girl! There may be wild beasts out there! A strong
boar alone could kill her!

My gf doesn't. At least I think she doesn't..
(I just asked, she does actually like it! I should buy some garlic for

Or a passing pack of werewolves... Although the board pose less of a
problem. She knows the regular inhabitants of the forest - after all she
grew up in a village in the middle of the forest - and knows how to deal
with them. In case of a wild board that mean keeping distance. And about
what she is doing in the forest: Running away. Not very reasonable, but
she *is* quite a hot head.

I do believe they can go even faster than that, but that's probably fast
enough to hit just about any hunting target. >> Stay informed about: [story] ATCv2 #6 |

They are both bipedal humanoids.
That and they life in the forest!
And they have two eyes with which they estimate distances which is
useful when swinging from tree to tree.

So are allmost all races in fantasy and sci-fi.

Whith the unimportant little difference of, you know, totally different
climatic zones...
> And they have two eyes with which they estimate distances which is

Almost every raptor has those as well.
Hm... so hunting, bipedal lizards from Omicron Phi that happen to live
in an environment full of what we would call trees will without doubt be
more powerful than humans... I *should* have known.
You know, pointing out the odd similarity and ignoring any differences
doesn't make for a good argument. And I so don't see elves giving off a
stupid cry while swinging from tree to tree on lianes - even if there
*were* any in the rather european forests usually associated with them.
Neither would they share Tarzans taste in clothes IMHO.

Not fair! Tarzan was raised by apes! You should consider yourself lucky
he is wearing any clothes in movies at all!
So summarizing: Laiva has the upperbody strength of a child of eight and

Well, yes... except for the fact that there is a fire and no dark and
the arrows are not inadequate. Oh, and the logbow is scaled down for her
size, of course.

Well, hunting is pretty much an essential skill if you live in a
forrest, although it is a tad unusual for a girl... I blame her parents.
Damn it, AIOE doesn't allow asterisks in the sender's email address
