that sounds like a joke huh? 1080p upscaled but won't accept a signal.
Think I'll wait for the 1080p native.

well, it is funny at how liquid money is to some (that probably don't
have alot to begin with), I don't buy into the Sony ploys, obviously
others have no wit about them. Think about it. Pay Sony, to rehash the
same movies at a lower resolution to play on a single device? Why not
just carry a small DVD player or ultra portable laptop. Guess it's just
me. I wouldn't pay them a nickel for one of those things; shoulda put a
mmc/sd card slot on one of those as every other of their "memory stick"
appliances. It's ludicrous to think I would re-buy my dvd collection,
sub-par at that!

Not as funny as you think. This is from the PSP hack site.
Sony PSP UMD Movies are a Sales Success (Addict 3D)
Two UMD movies for the PSP have now sold more than 100,000 copies each.
House of Flying Daggers and Resident Evil 2, both released April 19. This is
pretty amazing, because the number of Sony PSP sold is about 1.2 million in
the USA right now.

I don't know. With the list of studios that have signed on and the titles
that have been announced, I have a feeling this is a phenomena that is not
going away. I just ordered a 1GB memory stick from best buy to replace my
512 so that I can watch full length movies on my PSP. You are right, the
picture quality is not that of DVD but on that little ass screen, you would
really have to be looking for differences because some of my converted
movies and TV shows look darn near perfect.

ohh you're totally right. If the res is as big as the res of the
display than it's perfect. Further, I wouldn't contest that it's going
away, just that I personally feel it's a total waste of money. But hey,
if it has a memory stick slot that's awhole lot better than purchasing
disks. Curious though; do they give you software to convert to some
mpeg4 container?

I may buy 1 UMD in the next year and that will be the recently announced
Chappelle's Show season 2 UMD. Otherwise, I think an additional hi capacity
hard drive, Netflix, bittorrent, DVD shrink and pspvideo9 will be all I need
to enjoy every TV show or movie I could ever want.

pspvideo9 converts everything I have thrown at it. The only one that has
taken some configuration has been Sin City. Its an awesome program. I
occasionally play games on my PSP but I use it more for handheld video
playback or photo storage than anything else.

you know what, I stand corrected. While I still feel the buying of
minature DVDs is still a waste, I've browsed through many feature
length articles today in the newest issue of CPU. Really innovative
hacking going on with that thing. Everything from web browsing to a
remote control for the Tivo/TV etc.. In the near future, they're even
talking using it as a Skype Handheld phone. That's reallly cool. You
mentioned hard drive. Can you put a micro drive in those things? or is
it just memory stick? I would imagine only the latter (which sux) but
your statement leaves promise.

BTW, did you know Sony is talking about releasing a public SDK for the
PSP.

FYI, I've also read that

mentioned b4. Have you seen it yet. I've heard really good things....so

kid's suggestion.

ohhh, I 4got...."I'm Rick James Beyotttchh!" lol....

I was refering to an additional hard drive on my PC so that I can store all
of the movies and Tivo media I want to convert but the USB 2.0 functionality
of the PSP does leave many options open.

Ong Bak is mind blowing if you are a martial arts fan. The wire work in
most movies gets old but this is without wires (according to all sources I
have read) which makes this even more impressive.

software development kit. So enthuisiasts can make real software
instead of hacking what's already there (such as the half functional
web browser).

yeah, i thought it was ok. Kind of like a Jackie Chan flick but with a
better story. That kid has killer knees and elbows! I still wouldn't
put it on the same pedestal as Hero and the like but than they're
really not the same kind of movie are they.........

I like Hero. I liked House of Flying Daggers after it got off to a slow
start. For some reason, I prefer the stay on the ground realistic action
though. Maybe that's from growing up a Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, Jim Kelly
type of guy. Jackie is my favorite though. The original Drunken Master has
the best fight seen of any martial arts movie in history.

yeah I know what you mean. Really two different types of movies.
Romantic-Action- Fantasy-Drama (whew...Yimou Zhang covers all his
bases) with many symbolisms vs. more of a pure Action/Drama. I must
admit, it more refreshing to see a martial arts in a country other than
China. Those muay thai boys can kick some butt......

i wasn't too much into Bruce as a kid but I loved the Norris
Flicks....BRAAADDDDOOOCCCKKKK........whew.....? lol.
