I always caution people about removing files. The result is even worse.
The drive fills up, I have to come round and clean it up, but I have no
idea which files they want to keep and what programs must stay on the
drive. So I end up sitting side by side with them doing a task they
could easily do themselves.

I know it all too well. My sister is good about connecting cables, but
she won't open the damn thing up. She had moved the PC and dislodged the
video-card. It took me a hour to get there and push it in half a
centimeter...
Another nice one: hardware that doesn't work and nobody, including the
helpdesk, believes you. Because it sorta half works. Now it does, now it
doesn't. They want you to wait till the warranty is gone and it has
totally fried. Meanwhile you're stuck downloading drivers.
Also a lot of fun: fixing the computer whilst having to look after the
kids that are looming over you, running off with gear, roughhousing and
so on. Just so the parents can go out for a smoke. It takes you at least
twice as long to fix stuff when you've got people looking over your
shoulder or you're trying to not get them electrocuted.

Vista seems to be having a pretty bad press right now and I'm hoping it's a
long time before companies take it up, because I am trying to get into IT
and doing XP-based certification and I don't want to have to learn Vista. >> Stay informed about: Vista *curse* |

Never, I never killed a puter like that, I think.
I am sort of cautious, and not of the kind, like my girlfriend, who

The worst thing I ever had to do was the following. A friend called,
saying her scanner didn't work anymore. So I said, did you try
reconnecting all the plugs so that they are in firm? Yes yes yes.
Alright, so I get on my bike and cycle all the way over there, puzzle
about the problem for over an hour. THEN I decide to check the cables
again, and -floop- it all works again. *eyes kill*
And of course, same person, almost some thing. "Hi, my computer want
start up, it just beeps." Hmmm, so I say, do you get a visual at all,
because if no, have a look if your monitor is connected correctly,
because if not, that cause warning-bleeps. No no no, all connected. So
I get there, give the monitor cable a good push, and there you go the
things boots again without any problems. *grrrr*

Nope, a parallel one, for it's a small step from multiple threads to
multi-strings. I could add something about it being a great leap for
mankind, but let's not get overly dramatic now.
