Haven't played UT2K4 for ages (well, actually I only bought it for the mod
TO:Crossfire http://www.to-crossfire.net/ ). IIRC you can't change VSYNC
in the game-menu, at least you can't do that in TO:C.
Just open UT2004.ini (UT2004-folder --> System) in text-editor, go to the
[D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice] block (if you use Direct 3D), there search for
UseVSync= .
False for no vsync, true if you want to use vsync which means you don't
get more than 60 fps on your monitor.
But you said that you get max 85 fps, so it seems that vsync allready is
disabled in your UT2004.ini.

Done that now. You're right, v-sync is already disabled.

Thanks Thorsten.

Update: 2K4 runs at about 30FPS with candy midranged and 1024X768. It's not
as smooth as I would like but very playable. I think I'll get a lower end
card for the next couple of weeks or so until the price becomes reasonable
on the 8800.
I'm also quite impressed with dual core technology. I installed the AVG
antivirus and anti-spyware last night and had both modules scanning at the
same time while surfing the internet and I had no loss of response time at
all. Wow. Single cores are history.

I bet it will be playable. Unreal engine 2 is all about processor
power. I'm curious if the same will be true for UE3.

And yes, that's me. I Folk around in other groups too. Wink

I hear you. I'm itching for some of that creamy smoothness that is
SMP, but I'm not going to waste money by getting a dual core processor
for my current AMD/AGP/DDR rig when where I really want to be is Core
Duo/PCIe/DDR2.

Of course if you just can't wait....

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814122018&CMP=OTC...chRepor

$365 isn't too bad a deal considering what other vendors are getting,
but we all know that price will fall considerably by March.
