RE4 uses the exact same 3D controls (well, mostly -- the context
sensitive actions and Quicktime Events are new) as previous RE games,
including aiming controls. However, now the camera is locked in a
behind-the-back view, so the controls also map to the 2D approach
(up=character forward=upscreen).
Thankfully, RE4 *isn't* a FPS and doesn't control like one. (Quake was
the beginning of the end of decent first-person shooters -- in a large
part because of mouselook.) Were the RE series to devolve into just
another FPS, I daresay it would fall from grace in the sight of just
about everyone *but* FPS fans.
