Revolution will be backwards compatible? Aw, now I wish I'd bought the
RE3 port they had at the same store, but now it's gone. Ah well, I can
still get RE2! Thanks!

Of course, now I have to start saving my pennies for a Revolution.

I'm not sure I'll bother to get one.
I really don't like the look of that controller.

Mind you, I've not seen much about the X-box 360 or the PS3 that makes
me want to buy them either...

You would think they'd at least use the N64 version eh!?
It had a better mist effect in the lab's, from what I remember - and the
faces were just that much easier to see.

Well, I bought it, and I found the proper code, so now I'm going to
immerse myself in the Raccoon City Police Department again. Wish me luck!

From what i understand (being an avid nintendo fan) the revoluiton (which
will be the best next gen console) will be backwards compatibale and will
therefore play Gamecube games. You will also be able to download aevery game
which has ever being made for a nintendo home console prior to the GC of
course. So technically you should be able to download the N64 version of RE2

I'd much rather have the RE2 port myself, although I'd still like to
know if the Extreme Battle game is included with it.

I just got the RE2 port for the Cube a bit ago. Remind me what the
Extreme Battle game is, and I'll tell you if it's there.

The extreme battle mode is the game where you have to fight your way to
the police station to detonate four anti-virus bombs.
You can play as Claire, Leon, Chris or Ada (Ada gets to play with the
six shooter!).

It's on the UK Gamecube version.

On the UK version, all the characters are unlocked from the start.
There isn't any reward for completing it I'm afraid.

Ah ha! Then yes, the extreme battle game is included in the Gamecube
port sold in the US. I managed to complete the Claire and Leon parts,
but always died as Ada, so never got to Chris. Sad Is there a special
reward for finishing all the sections?

<From Evil Unleashed>

Resident Evil 2 - Extreme Battle Mode

A short guide by: Scythe

General Information Extreme Battle Mode is a mini-game included in
certain versions of RE2. Extreme Battle Mode can be unlocked in the
following versions of Resident Evil 2:

-Dual Shock PlayStation Version (USA/JPN)
-Dreamcast (USA)
-PC
-GameCube

Unlock it the same way you would unlock the Hunk game; simply beat
Scenario A and Scenario B on Normal Mode with an A Ranking. In the PC
version of the game, it is available from the start, with all
characters, so you don't have to do anything to earn it.

Mini-Game Plot In this mini-game, you must make it from Birkin's lab
to the R.P.D. and find all four hidden antivirus bombs. This is just
another fun mini-game and doesn't fit into the official RE plot. You
have infinite ammo for all of your weapons. On the way, you will find
healing items to heal yourself with. The best strategy is to avoid
fights the best that you can. If you do have to confront an enemy, use
your stronger weapons and keep moving. Make sure you get the four
bombs as you go.

The bombs are in the following locations:

-S.T.A.R.S. Office
-Ben's Cellblock
-Chief Iron's Sideroom
-Marvin's Room
-RPD Backdoor (where the Valve Handle is in the A Scenario)
-Meeting Room (where the Red Jewel is behind the fireplace)

Characters You start out with Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield as
default characters. If you beat the mini-game with both of them, you
unlock Ada Wong and Level 2 difficulty. If you beat the mini-game with
Level 2 with any character, you unlock Chris Redfield.

Leon S. Kennedy
-H&K VP70
-Shotgun
-Magnum
-Ink Ribbon
-F-Aid Spray
-Blue Herb

Claire Redfield
-Grenade Launcher
-Flame Rounds
-Acid Rounds
-Ink Ribbon
-F-Aid Spray
-Blue Herb

Ada Wong
-Colt S.A.A.
-Submachine Gun
-Bow Gun
-Ink Ribbon
-Brown Herb Mix

Chris Redfield
-Beretta M92FS
-Custom Shotgun
-Ink Ribbon
-Rocket Launcher
-F-Aid Spray

Cheers,
Rob
