Looks like my copy arrived today, so I'll see how I get on. Not sure
if I'll have enough time to go complete it before Friday though...

Tyke is the first person in the world to complete Spike's Circus!

Congratulations Tyke!

Frankly I'm a little suprised at Tyke's stamina. It must have taken
many hours over such a short period. Tyke maybe you'd like to tell us
how many gaming hours you took in total from opening the box?
(I'm guessing it took a little longer than seeing all the levels of
Scramble :)

I must confess I'm a little relieved, I had wondered whether the
final
levels would be just too complicated in terms of skill and
coordination
to be possible. I certainly haven't completed each individual level.
:)

Tyke's commitment has expossed a weakness with shipping times, I know
that games arrived across Europe on Friday so it was still more than
a
2 horse race, but I guess you US guys never had a chance. Recognising
this is unfair I will take the hit and stump up another copy of Joust
Evolution as "second prize" (I will also take into acount
the crazy
situation in our airports at the moment)

So competetion rules for Joust Evolution #4. All submissions of the
final level Unlock Code accompanied by the owner's SC Serial Number
and
a photograph of the final screen received at vectrex RemoveThis @vectorzoa.com by
9pm GMT(Zulu) on Friday 18th August 2006 will be entered into a draw
which will take place at 10pm GMT(Zulu) on the same day where the
winner of a free JE#4 will be determined by random selection from
these
entrants.

Sound fair? Then get playing! ;)

[ Remember JE prizes will not be shipped until its public release
date.
][/quote:a157284478]

My copy of Spike's Circus turned up on Thursday morning while I was at
work, I first opened it up while eating my evening meal at around 6pm
and got to sit down and play with it around 7pm, I think I played
till 11ish and was on around level 14 by the end of that play.

I next played on Thursday at lunch time at work (Taking my vectrex to
work) I played for a solid hour and made it up to level 30.

The final stretch was as soon as I got home from work 5.30pm till
around 9.30ish when I finished it.

So all being told I think it took me a fair 8-9 hours, but I did have
a annoying problem where the first vectrex I had been using kept
locking up randomly, so I took the precaution of resetting the
vectrex after each level to get my code.
And then moved onto my second vectrex for the final 10 or so levels.

Great fun though, I have since finished it 2 more times speed running
it, I ve got it down to just over an hour now: D

I received it today in excellent condition..

I like the new plastic box! Very practical and sturdy!

The overlay is super as well!

All I need now is time to play....

Cheers

Of course! If you select easy mode the levels won't unlock anyway.
So normal is enforced for completion. Or hard if you're insane.

Received Spike's Circus this morning. Level 8 after and hour of playing.
Too bad work got in the way.

So far the game play is everything that I imagined. Well done on the
physics and the apparent math precision. It's always nice to see a game
where the precision is accounted for to such a degree that I can get Spike
balanced so he rolls across the screen ever so slowly. That kind of
precision is almost a cheat in itself.

I do have to echo the earlier sentiments about the overlay. Almost useless
but very beautiful. And the overlay construction is top shelf. I do like
the notch being at the bottom of the overlay. And fit,,, well it is perfect
on my day use Vectrex. I prefer to play SC with the overlay in place.

Nice game Alex!

Sincerely,

Chris

Level 27 now, playing with the Vecvoxx 'Darnit' and 'You dropped one'
are the main sounds on my game Wink

I think i would rate this game 10/10, and that's no joke.
100% fun and playable and keeping you just frustrated enough to try again.

We have all been discussing boxes for a while, but gameplay is more
important. Although the SC overlay and box are also very nice.

A game to play, and not just to be put on the shelf.

Alex,

I'm glad you decided to give us foreigners another shot!

You've got mail Wink

I finished the game in two sittings, yesterday evening and this morning, and
I really enjoyed playing it!

As far as I'm concerned, it is way up there with the top homebrew games for
the vectrex.
Very nicely programmed, excellent gameplay, very addictive, nice graphics,
very
good use of the analog joystick, beautiful overlay. And oh yes, I really
like the new
boxes! (will you be @ eurocon? Bring some for me)

Another instant classic in the homebrew scene!

Makes me really look forward to any of your upcoming titles!

Cheers,

Pepijn

PS A tip for the tightrope levels: As Alex really pushes the abilities of
the analog stick,
make sure you use a controller that centres ok vertically. The first
controller
I used made this part of the game nearly impossible to complete and thus
very frustrating.
Then I used a new controller, and, instead of frustrating, the levels became
challenging,
but certainly not impossible (appearantly Razz)
