Since reinstalling FS2004 it tells me I do not have a internet connection
when it goes to check the weather. I have not experienced this before, but
the internet is working fine on the PC running FS2004.
What do I check to get this working?
Thanks.

I had this happen to me all the time and it occasionally get annoying.
The screen goes black and I get this ugly popup in the centre telling
me I have no internet connection. I usually glance down at my cable
modem to see if there are any lights flashing, and if not, I know I'm
connected. I have a feeling it's the RealWeather server which is down
and I just wait until it stops interrupting my flight. This will
happen eventually.
This is by far, the most annoying feature of FS9. The funny thing is,
it doesn't happen to everyone. Guess we're just lucky.

Chip
Are you using Broadband or Dial-up? It doesn't mean you don't have an
internet connection per se, possibly your just not connected.
FS2004 doesn't automatically invoke the dialup dialog box to make a
connection to the internet so cannot retrieve your weather unless you
connect prior to loading FS2004.
Hope this helps

Just checked and it's still doing it so I'll just keep waiting until it
stops. There isn't much more I can do.
Thanks.

Broadband in use.. The other poster said it might be that the weather
server is down. It's a wait and see game now.
Thanks,

I would say default FS weather is lousy, the simple way is to get rid of it
by buying Active Sky......
Now they have AS v6....

Are you using a router, either wired or wireless? You may need to set up a
port by logging on to the router. Or are you running any firewall or WinXP
security scheme that may be blocking FS9 attempt to access the internet?

yep.. it may be blocked by a software firewall. If you have such a
firewall, open Properties, Access Control panel to examine the list
and clean up / delete stuff. Set it to ASK when each new process
wants access either in or out, and make a rule for each.

I found the location of that server in the fs9.cfg file and tried to ping it
with no results. It does appear to be done. Hopefully no forever..
