Archived from groups: alt>games>nintendo>pokemon (more info?)

I'm somewhat back, after making a goodbye post to this newsgroup
around 7 years ago. I just graduated college and am doing absolutely
*nothing* this summer, and in my boredom I scoured through my archives
and began reading all these old chat logs from the AGNP chat, which
led me to Google Group-search old posts from the NG... needless to say
I'm somewhat nostalgic.

So, is anyone that remembers me still around? I am interested in
reminiscing with y'all everyone about the AGNP of ye olden days. If
anyone has any of the old chats that would be swell also.

Happens to the best of us! I think that, by now, there are more felt-
nostalgic-and-returned types than people who stayed all along.

I can't remember much of 2000 at AGNP (and I don't care to search
Google to see what I was like back then!), but from checking out the
overall vibe of the group back then ... I seem to recall you left
because the group had gone somewhat to the bad. Certainly, post
counts peaked back then, with over ten thousand posts a month being
the norm.

Absolutely all the hypocritical and elitist sorts you mentioned back
then have left, though. Every last one. There are several posters
from the period still around, and they're lovely.

I'm on my lunch break at work at the moment, but I'm sure I've got
some old chat logs lying around an old laptop somewhere. They'd be
from circa 2002-2004, I'm afraid - will those suffice? By that time,
few people discussed Pokémon in the chat - but then, I get the
impression that you're more interested in knowing what became of the
old crowd.

Anyone in particular you want to check out? Plenty of '99/'00 types
lasted long enough for me to catch the tail end of their time with the
group and chat.

Hah yeah, I am more interested in what happened to everyone. I stopped
posting on the NG because I definitely lost interest in Pokemon, but I
kept coming into the chatroom because I had nothing better to do at
the time. I stopped coming into the chatroom once sophomore year of
high school started for me (late '00), though i popped in once or
twice in early 2001 to see how things were.

Thanks for your response Steffan. Do you have AIM? There's a long list
of people I remember from that era and I'm curious how long they stuck
around.

Yeah, makes sense. I got the impression that the chat was much larger back
then than it was when I frequented it, but as I say, a good handful of
people stuck around.

My AIM's Vanilla Iceduck. I prefer MSN (using my current Hotmail address),
but odds are I'll be on both just as often for the time being.

That said, I won't be on either until Monday, since I'm off for the weekend,
but I'll try to check up on the group - so feel free to post any burning
questions you may have here for the time being!

Looking forward to chatting properly!

Well, your sig rings a bell, but I can't place the face...

I know I joined in High School, and I graduated from there in 2000, so
I guess I count as being "of ye olden days." Can't say I've
accomplished much since then, though. I graduated from College this
June with an Associate of Science degree and I'm apparently on the
Dean's List. No idea what to do with it, though, and I'm still
looking for a job.

I occasionally check up on the posts from time to time; never post,
though. The last time I regularly posted here or hung out in the chat
room was probably around 2002 or so.

A year or two ago, after playing R/S, I very nearly came back and
restarted myself in PW!. Ended up losing interest in that venture
though, mostly because it'd been so long and I had no clue what (if
anything) was going on. Now I don't even have D/P yet, so I'd have even
less of a clue what's going on. Plus, there was a too much of a gap to
fill in, anyway.

I do sometimes look through the old chat logs I have on here and stuff
and wonder what happened to all those guys. And I had a few good
chuckles while playing through G/S again a year or so ago (trying to
record the music), seeing some of the characters spout old AGNP
catchphrases.

Don't let things like that put you off. The past doesn't really matter
much, as long as you can check a WG for personality. Besides, only Chet and
I have characters in Sinnoh - the other writers are all still writing about
Hoenn.

I'd certainly love to see you return to the PW!, so if you've got the time,
feel free to jump back in.
