Ok, I was wondering why I was getting poen by the lvl 62 critters in
the mine in AV (lvl 65 huntard MM/BM spec).
I found I was wielding me 'ucking fishing rod, what made it worse it
took me 2 goes at AV to realise it Sad(.

Excuses: I haven't played my hunter for over 6 months, and as soon as
I logged on to level him, I got invited to the BG by my wife and
friend.
So between logging on and accepting the invite I didn’t raise my ‘rod’
in anger, so I didn't notice what I was wielding....until I got
attacked by 5-6 blighters in the mine and wondered why I was tiggling
them to death.

When I did realise, I didn't do the sensible thing and keep quiet - I
told my wife ... hay presto ... she pissed her pants, and I received
some real serious piss taking from all and sundry

I suppose you reap what you sow ... or don't take a toon you haven't
played for 6 months instantly into any BG .....

Regards one prize Numpty !!

I did part of heroic mech wearing my fishing pole (instead of my
baster sword with spellpower enchant and offhand +51 shadow damage)
and my fishing gloves (netherweave gloves, level 60ish green item,
with the +2 fishing enchant instead of my epic BG gloves with major
spellpower enchant). I even noticed that my damage was quite low
compared to normal and I was at a loss to explain it until we got to
the first boss, when I noticed the fishing pole.

Outfitter has a function to create sets based on stats that you want.
When I switched to Outfitter from ClosetGnome, I wanted to create a
PvP set so I asked it to make a health based set. It put my +51
stamina fishing pole as the weapon. It took me a while to realise why
this set had lost so much +heal compared to what I was used to on my
ClosetGnome PvP set. Smile

Hehe, my lock did heroic mech with his fishing pole equipped, it was
only while we were getting mana and checking buffs prior to the final
encounter with Pathaleon that a teammate helpfully pointed it out...I
had wondered why the instance seemed harder than usual (we had been
running it regularly for badges and the tank wanted Sun Eater).

A week or so later, we started a new Kara run and it was only at the
point we had finished the Opera event that our main tank noticed he
was still wearing his floppy fishing hat from the night before...

Trouble is, you can be so focused on the job at hand that it is easy
to overlook a slight difference to your character's look.

Cheers

Pre-2.4 I did some respeccing to play around with different warlock
specs. But I forgot to talk to the trainer again to relearn higher
ranks of spells. I played for about a month with Siphon Life Rank 1.

Been there, done that. I always forget to change back after fishing and
often just notice it when I log back in the next day and see the char in
the character selection screen with the fishing pole in her hand. I'm
playing a warlock, so I don't fight with it, but I loose more than 250
spelldamage without my sword and off-hand.

As I often start the daily quests in Nagrand with the Multiphase Survey
quest I tend to forget that I'm wearing the Multiphase Spectrographic
Goggles and continue to wear them instead of my epic head piece.

I usually notice that something is wrong when I use Drain Life and it
only ticks for half the damage it normally does.

I did something like that in a Kara run. With three items : the fishing
pole, the 10% speed trinket and another one that I have not equipeed, the
gloves maybe. And I noticed it one by one. Smile
