Can anyone tell me exactly what you have to do to fish? Call me an idiot,
but in the GC version it was a no-brainer. Can't exactly get it to work in
the DS version. Do you have to use the stylus? I am trying not to use it
because I don't want to scratch my screen up. Thanks in advance

Equip the fishing rod, use the 'A' button to cast your line somewhere in
front of a fish. With a bit of luck, you will get a nibble - the float
will bob a few times before it disappears with a splash and a 'plop'
noise. Press the A button just after the plop and hold it down until
you've reeled in the fish.

Some locations can be tricky to cast into - if the fish is close to the
shore line, or near a bridge, but you can usually get them with a bit of
patience. It's worth fishing at different times of day to give yourself
the best chance of catching different fish. Also, the best time to fish
seems to be when it is raining, and this is also the only time that you
have a chance of catching a ceoelacanth.

you know, you could go to any game store and buy a screen protector. they're
not too expensive, easily removable, and easily place-able (is that even a
word??).

but yeah... the A button does pretty much anything that the stylus can do.
press Y to go into your "pockets", equip yourself with the fishing rod,
(press B to get out of your pockets), cast your rod by pressing A. when the
fish nibbles then you hear the plop noise (you should probably use
headphones the first few times you fish, so you can hear the noise), press
and HOLD DOWN A until you reel it in. very simple. Smile

I got it! Thanks to everyone for the help. I was trying to put it in their
hand instead of dropping over the whole person (does that even make sense?)!
I have actually caught a few fish. It is a bit harder since you can't
"feel" the fish biting like you could in the GC version.

About the screen protectors, are they worth it, or a hassle?

they're worth it. i have many games that require the touch screen, and i'm
super paranoid about scratching the screen (i've already got like 3 tiny
little scratches). the protectors really work. the only thing is, you've got
to make sure that your screen is absolutely CLEAN before applying, and that
you're on a level surface with something that can smooth down the protector
so you don't get any of those damned little bubbles.

Hey,
thanks Sam. Really appreciate your reply. Its reassuring to know that I am
not the only one that is paranoid about scratching the screen also. I
thought it was just me. I will definitely have to check into getting a few.
