Anyone else find DS lite for sale yet ? (NA, not imported)

I'd warn anyone, if you're not buying one don't look at the screen on the
DS lite. It's sooo much nicer than the original DS, you'll see details in
games you could never appreciate before.

Do you find the touch screen to be a bit "sticky" ? I suppose its part of
the newness.

Anyway it's an amazing upgrade & anyone who uses their DS a lot & can
afford one it's well worth the money, you'll be very happy with it!

It's very wrong of Nintendo to have put out an upgrade of the DS lite
when the original DS hasn't been out that long. Sony also did that with
the Sony Playstation 2. Now there is a Sony 3.

What's the price of the DS lite? Is it $130. as the original.

Hmmm well in Canada it's $150.(same price as the original DS although one
store did have the price reduced on the original DS allready) The DS has
been out for 1.5 years now in NA alone & you don't have to upgrade if you
don't want to. I personally wanted the new brighter screen & now that I
have the DS lite I also like it's smaller size as well.

I was at Walmart yesterday and I didn't see the new DS displayed. I
guess it would be $130 when it's released. That's what I paid for the
original one.

It's is NOT wrong at all for Ninetendo to do that. They're not FORCING you
to upgrade. When yoiu had problems with your DS, Nintendo didn't laugh at
you and tell you that you have to buy the Lite. They fixed the problem for
you, did they not? Also, what Nintendo is doing with the DS Lite isn't even
comparable to the PS3. The PS3 is a completely new system where the games
for it are not backwards compatible. The DS Lite uses the EXACT same games
as the regular DS. If you enjoy your DS, you can continue and enjoy it. No
one, especially Nintendo, is taking that away from you. There will still be
slews of games being released for it for the next couple of years at least.
Over time, technology and designs improve while prices go down, so Nintendo
was able to offer a sleeker shinier system. Nintendo did similar things with
the Gameboy and Gameboy Advance and its been very profitable for them.

As for the PS2 and PS3, why is that so wrong? Microsoft had the Xbox now
they have the Xbox 360. Nintendo had the NES, then SNES then N64 then the
Gamecube and soon the Wii. If companies DIDN'T release new hardware and
continue to improve on things, we'd still be stuck with the Atari 2600 or
worse.

I did appreciate it very much that Nintendo fixed my DS.

You're correct in what you said, no one is forcing me to upgrade to the
DS lite. I guess that it is much nicer being that it has a brighter
screen and it's smaller. Maybe I will buy the Lite the end of the year.
I do love the DS that I have. I haven't had any problem with scratching
up the touch screen since I don't use the stylus. I just haven't been to
a store that sells the screen proctector because I live too far away
from the stores, 110 miles round trip. I guess you can figure it out, I
live in the boonies. lol

I can agree with John some about the DS lite redesign, but its true that the
old DS will work just fine. Nintendo IMO made great strides with the lite
design, it isn't kiddie anymore, its very sleek...and the screens and stylus
are greatly improved..all for 129.99. I think EB is giving 20.00 more
credit for a used DS (something to think about). The lite redesign might
also have come around to make it look like the Wii.

Yes stores weren't supposed to sell them before June 11th but some of them
did. If you search on Google news there was a story about some Wal-marts
selling early. Supposedly Nintendo keeps a tight watch on those things &
I've seen people claim they may take action against stores that sell early.

I guess when I go back to Walmart in another 2 weeks they'll have then.

I do want to see what they look like. I believe they only come in
White?? Soon they will be making them in other colors. Maybe for
Christmas, they'll have red ones, which I had wanted and I couldn't get.
lol I'm a 64 year old big kid. lol So, I'll have plenty of time to save
up the money to buy a red one. lol

I believe they do allready have other colors in European countries & Japan
but of course it's been out longer in Japan. I imagine by Christmas there
will be other colors but I am not a patient guy. Also I'm sure there
will be more custom skins available so the color wont matter quite so much
to some people when nice skins are out for the DS lite. I had a nice one
for my DS to cover up the silver. :)Actually I'm kind of liking the white,
it is very Ipodish & makes the DS seem more heavenly. (hehehehe)

I'm lucky I got DS machine, no less the skin.
I've never seen the skins, but they must be nice. I've seen the carry
cases for the DS. I don't own the case for a DS, but I have a small
insulated one that's used to carry CD music players. The DS fits right
in there just perfect.
I just told my husband John, that I'll save up my own money to buy the
Lite DS. I want a red one. lol So, by Christmas I should have the money
to buy one.
You just described it and it sounds good, so it's worth buying one.
I have the GBA SP and I like it. I don't like the big console model game
systems. I love handheld.
