There is NO SUCH FILE, as fsx.cfg. I had
the Windows search utility look for the file,
and it does not exist. So for anyone looking
for fsx.cfg, I am sorry to say it does not exist.

Charles,

In the demo it can be found here, where "Jim" is the name of the user.
Maybe it is similarly placed in the full version?

C:\Documents and Settings\Jim\Application Data\Microsoft\FSXDemo

I guess it does. But why did the file search in
Windows XP not show it? I figure Microsoft must
not want you to muck with the file if it does not
show up in any file search.

Because you don't have your search set up to look in hidden files and
folders.

Application Data is set as a hidden folder in your Documents and
Settings folder, to keep people from mucking about with what are
supposed to be important files. Of course, just like every other file
structure Microsoft has put in place, developers misuse it all the time.

In any case, check under "More advanced options" and check to search in
hidden files and folders. Dollars to donuts it'll show up.

because the file is hidden, just like fs9.cfg

Uh, yup, it does, otherwise FSX couldn't run.

Make sure to tick the radio button to display hidden files and folders
under Tools, Folder Options, View tab. Also, adjust your Search
parameters to include hidden and system files.

There is NO SUCH MAN, as SANTA CLAUS. I had
the Windows search utility look for the man,
and he does not exist. So for anyone looking
for Santa Claus, I am sorry to say he does not exist.

I'm waiting to see your apology to those who tried to help you and to whom
you were unnecessarily rude.

I must apologize. It appears that Microsoft has
hidden the file such that a search cannot find it
in a normal serach.

Did you check show hidden/system files?

Hi Ian,

Well said, mate.Smile

This sort of posting adds a whole lot of weight to Beech45's warnings
about Mxsmanic, which I've personally investigated today.

Peter wasn't wrong.

Is this Charles and Msxmanic one and the same? If so, I have some
newsreader scoring and action tasks to complete before the sun sets on the
US east coast today.
