| Does anyone know what year GW stopped using lead?
Also, I've got an old figure that looks like a necron, but it has what looks
like an autogun and a chaos symbol on its forehead. Was this just a one-off
figure for RT, or were there more made?

What you're describing sounds an awful lot like a Chaos Android.
Those were pretty short-lived, IIRC. >> Stay informed about: Two old figure questions |

According to http://uk.games-workshop.com/legal/counterfeiters/1/ not for
over 15 years (and add onto that the age of that page too)

Seamus mentioned the chaos android, if it's plastic then this is likely what
it is and was included in the Advanced Space Crusade game. Here's a pic:
http://i19.ebayimg.com/04/i/000/cf/e8/5a40_1.JPG is that what you have?
If it's metal it might be the old very first Necron, I did have one kicking
around that I got free with WD when it was released long long ago but I
don't remember it having a chaos symbol on it's head.

that's a fib - i have plenty of lead alloy figures from the early/mid-90s.
I do vaguely remember the introduction of "white metal" and i'm damn sure it
was no earlier than 1996. >> Stay informed about: Two old figure questions |

It does sound wrong.
According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citadel_Miniatures (although I
don't put too much faith in Wikis) it was 1997, which at least sounds more
plausible.

A bit more digging and I found this:
http://www.lead.org.au/lasn/lasn014.html which is apparently from the Feb
1997 issue of White Dwarf, and at that time they were still working out when
to introduce it, so at the earliest it would have been sometime during 1997.

How about that, GW legal lying in order to drum up reasons to go after
people. Who could have seen that coming?

That's the one, but it's metal, same pose and everything. Probably a cheap
knock-off/counterfeit then. >> Stay informed about: Two old figure questions |

Not necessarily. Most of the plastic figures were preceded by metal
prototypes. You'd be better off asking on the CollectingCitadelMiniatures
Yahoo Group. Lots of collectors on there, and one of them will probably
know if it's genuine or fake.

Kind of odd to find a prototype in a bargain bin in California... but I
guess stranger things have happened. I guess I'll just assume it's lead
either way and throw it up on the high shelves where little fingers (and
mouths) can't find it. >> Stay informed about: Two old figure questions |

That's exactly where I expect to find things like that, really.
