Hmm. Other people say 10. Could be right. I was feeding at
near-full health just now, and got varying numbers of ticks, from 4-6,
sometimes ending with several giving 0 increase. Odd.

Cheers - Ian

The ticks I get vary, usually between 8 and 10, but can be as low as 6.
I've no clue why, I'd expect it to always be the same, but it isn't :-/

I think it was John Salerno <johnjsal.DeleteThis@NOSPAMgmail.com> that wrote

Either way, I believe it can be added to the general chat pane. Just
right click on the tab, then under one the spells submenu, you should
be able to tick one of the options there to have it display your pet
getting fed. Though you might have to have other messages display
there as well, such as a message whenever any buff or debuff effects
your pet, or possibly even any other party memeber.
Play around with it. It's too late at night for me to do it for you.

Right click on the tab for the combat window and the top option should
be "unlock". Click that and the combat window will jump out into the
middle of your screen where you can then click and drag it wherever
you want. Or you can just click and drag it without doing the unlock
thing.

It's not like I haven't tried. There was even an option I chose that was
something like "Show pet buffs", but even that didn't work. I don't see
anything else that would be it, and I'd rather not waste the food trying
each thing if someone happens to know how to do it.

Yeah it is possible to add it to general, not sure exactly what option
it is, but when I was a nub I set up my own combat window before I
realized that there was already one set up. In this window it
displays how much happiness he is gaining on each tick. So there is
an option that you can enable to show it, just need to figure out
which one. Theres a few different options for pet messages, just
start turning them on one by one in general until it starts showing
it, then turn the other ones off.

You add stuff to the general pane the same way you add things to the
other panes.

And putting them back together it's just a matter of dragging one pane
over the other until the vertical edge of the pane tab highlights.

I never realized but my combat log window was unlocked already, I just
never thought to drag it around before. But I did and now have them
separate. Seems like to recombine them you just drag it back over and it
"snaps" back into place.

It will let you, but it's completely wasted. You need to wait until the
'eating' icon runs out to gain any benefit. Otherwise all you're doing is
resetting the happiness ticks you get from feeding your pet.

The eating buff lasts about 20 seconds, or until you put your pet into
combat, whichever coems first. *

Any messages in the combat log can be put into the general chat window -
they're just chat windows that happen to be premade for you. Right click on
the tab, and check off the things you want to see displayed. I'm doing this
from memory, but I think you want to check "pet's beneficial spell effects"
to see feed pet ticks. You'll probably get other messages from doing this
too, some you might not want.

A simple way to see if feed pet is on is to target your pet when you
feed them, and wait for the bone icon to disappear. Since you're not going
to want to be in combat while feeding (it immediately removes the feed
pet buff), this doesn't do any harm. *
