extract data from savegame files

Hi all,

is there a known way to extract specific information from savegame-files? In
my case I've "lost" an item by dropping or selling it accidentally. How can
I find it now?

The samegame editor is called Leto and you can Google for it. However,
if all you need is an item, you can spawn it in with the console. What
item do you need?
