Hi!

I played planets 4 for years now but had to pause that to real life
issuse.
I just wanted to start again and downloaded the v4beta20.exe .
Intallation runs without any problems but as soon as I start it I get 4
times "error in startup". I can click on files on tne main page but get
"runtime error '481' invalid picture".

It also don't change if I install the host 193.exe and p059.exe.
I also tried to renew the raceview.exe by raceview from my former
installation. But it also don't seem to work. raceview gives me "
runtime error '5': Invalid procedure call or argument "

I suspect it has to do with my new PC.
Running Windows XP Professional v2002 sp2

Never had this problem with my old PC.

Any idea what went wrong here?

Your answers are appreciated, thanx,

Loki

Are the peoples army in the game you are in? I understand there is an
error in the picture size see Wiki pictures for a resized picture that
should clear it up.

No, the problem occurs right after I installed the v4beta21.exe
(thanx lancelord wasn't aware of this new planets4.com page)

Errors still the same as described.

It seem to be some kind of viewing error. The raceview file and the
master file are also affected. They don't start I just get error
messages. "Main load error: Master: 6"

Have no clue how to fix that.

It is not race related, its right when I start the files.

Thanx for your ideas so far,

Loki

Do you have C:\Temp directory?

I read [way back] that that fixed something.... don't know if it will
fix your problem.

Just to make sure a little recap.

#1 install package Dec 20th, 2005 Complete shareware package v4r21.exe
#2 Install Latest planets4.exe 4.060
#3 Latest host 195
#4 make c:\Temp (if one does not exist)
#5 Try disabling your anti-virus software, many time it cause errors

Hi!

Everything check,

C:\temp exists, I completely uninstalled the AntiVirus software.
Installed v4 complete new. Installed the new host, new planets file,
still the same problem.

I give up, seems like I have to live without planets until I get a new
PC (or an old one? hmmmm...)

Thanx for your help anyway, very good to have some people like you
around.

Good luck,

Loki

If you did all that... email Tim.... and let him know exactly what errors
you got.

To be certain: When you click on the reg key in planets does it say version
60? And are you using XP with service pack 2?

One more thing to try if all else fails. Install the game in a new
directory, named something other than your previous installs. Occasionally
I've found hang ups in windows registry regarding old installs messing up
new ones.
