It was originally going to be called Half Life 2: Aftermath, and then
they decided to go with episodes. I think it should have been called
"Half Life: Aftermath, Episode 1", but who knows what marketing drone
came up with the current name...

Consider HL2 as the interlude before episode 1

Half-Life 2 is the wide release feature film. Half-Life 2: Episode One is
the first episode of the super glossy HBO mini-series that will continue
the story.
I'm not saying it was a good idea. Put me down as another who thinks it's a
moronic title.
I think they should have called it Half-Life 2.1

Who cares about the title? As long as the game maintains the storyline, and
surpasses the visual quality of HL2 I am happy. I would still have preloaded
this if it was called, "Auntie Flo Is Going For A Walk". Sorry for the
reference to the BBC world service messages during WWII, but I think the
content of the game should be the proof of the pudding. Please don't have me

The naming convention is annoying because if you want to introduce someone
else to the game you now have to explain "First you play Half Life 2, then
you play Half-Life 2, Episode One" and they'll be like "Huh? Shouldn't
Episode One be played first?"
It's as annoying as the way they name anime series and comic series these
days... but I agree with you, I would have pre-loaded Episode One if they
called it Half-Life 2: Bathtime With Barney.

Pre-loading Episode 1 - Cool. Though all of a sudden I'm thinking, hmmm, I'm spending $17.95 a month on Steam lately/now. Of course I'm getting something for that, but maybe if there were a subscription offered, where you get all the new games released, I'd sign up for it....
So I just pre-loaded Episode 1... - .... is there a solution for my problem : I'm wondering, if there's anyone with such knowledge reading the messages here, I prefer formatting, and reinstalling XP on my primary disk, fairly often. I have Half life2 installed to a secondary disk.. Ever...
Episode one first impressions - played for about 40mins so far. have already found a really annoying bit! won`t say cos it`ll spoil it for people who haven`t got the game yet. needless to say you`ll know it when you get to it! it`s a decent graphical upgrade on HL2 with HDR used all...
Episode download question - I'm currently downloading Ep1 and at the speed it's moving, it should be ready by next week. It might have been quicker to walk the six miles into town and bought a disk. It's going on a hard disk separate from the one I keep XP on. However, I'm .. |
