The engine is almost the same. The thing is, Fallout 1 is still a great
game, and the only complaints I may have with it are a few parts of the
engine that were changed for Fallout 2. The problem with FOT is the game
is so different, it would take a lot of effort to port the data over. My
hope is that because F1 and F2 are so similar it may be possible to
essentially just copy the F1 dat into the F2 install and play the
original game on the updated engine. The more work it takes, the less
likely it is to happen.
So does anyone have enough experience with mods and the Fallout data to
know what kind of work this would take? I don't even know how to load a
map beside the original game in Fallout 2.
