How do you end an agreement like a mutual protection pact. I thought a
mutual protection pact meant that if your ally is attacked then you
have to help them, not that if your ally starts a war you have to go to
war too. I always see powers telling me that a trade agreement has
ended so that they can renegotiate, but I can't figure out how to do it
to them. Thanks

if your ally goes to war, the enemy nation will attack them and you
will end up in war too. If you have two MPPs and one attacks the
other, you automatically go to war against the first attacker.

Yet another thing they fixed in Civ4. When one declares war, all
the defense pacts of the aggressor are automatically canceled.

Open a diplomatic window with the nation you want to renogotiate with.
Once in the negotiation screen, click "active" at the bottom of the
window - that shows all current agreements with that civ. If there are
still turns remaining in your obligation, that number will appear to
the left of the agreement. This is not a well-formatted screen, so this
number will not be obvious.

This applies to Civ3 version 1.29f. I don't know about C3C, but I
understand it is more obvious in that one.
