You can, but that doesn't raise speechcraft at all. None of my
characters bother with it, because it's so broken, they use bribery
instead. >> Stay informed about: enchanted weapons |

Yes, that is the way it works. Speechcraft is totally broken and
useless in Oblivion, which is a pity, because it was a good and useful
skill in Morrowind.

The way to raise speechcraft is to repeatedly play the wedges game
over and over, just clicking on the largest wedge, _before_ you have a
good enough reputation and personality that the game becomes
unavailable. This won't actually be helpful to you in making people
like you better, but it will increase the skill, and is, apart from
training, the only practical way to do so. Once you have a good
disposition, you can basically never raise speechcraft again. As I
said, totally broken. >> Stay informed about: enchanted weapons |

Ahh, well if its game bug, then yeah, i agree using the console is probably
the best option. I was sort of stunned that you would suggest it outright
like that at first. If its a known bug, do they plan a patch for it? >> Stay informed about: enchanted weapons |

Playing the wedges mini game is how you get speech craft to go up. It
is not that hard to play the mini game - I can always get any one to
the max. When trying to increase speech craft (rather than just get a
person to max liking me), I have to deliberately make it go down part
of the time rather than up. Guards are good for working on speech
craft when your personality is high because they tend to not be at max
to begin, no matter how high your personality. Once I get personality
maxxed, I don't bother with speech craft unless I find a shop keeper
or some quest person that needs to be persuaded, so I have never come
close to maximizing speech craft just to be complete.

I was just looking at that dagger I mentioned at the end of the black hand
quest. It's called the "Blade of Woe" holds a charge of 32,640. That
would take around 20 and 1/2 black/grand soul gems to fully charge. It's
good for 30 strikes, or a little less than one soul gems per strike. Not
something you should want to go around using unless you have an over supply
of gems laying around. It holds the record for the most gem hungry weapon in
Oblivion.
Here is a few other multi-gem weapons I have laying around.:
Blade of Woe (dagger) charge 32,640 uses: 30
Shadowhunt (Bow) charge: 9,000 uses: 126
Blackwater Blade charge: 8,050 uses: 46
Mehrunes Razor (blade) charge: 8,000 uses: 49
Sufferthorn (blade) charge: 8,000 uses: 68
Debaser (blade) charge: 7,200 uses: 60
Staff of Worms charge: 5,000 uses: 227
Mankar Camoran Staff charge: 5,000 uses: 161
Many more in the 3000 to 5000 range.
My favorite of all: Goldbrand - a long blade, 20points of fire per strike,
3000 charge, and 76 uses. I use it all the time. Oh - Umbra is always with
me.

Several, in fact. Bar using a trainer, the easiest is to equip items that
fortify (raise) your speechcraft. Second, some quest encounters
raise your speechcraft by more that one point at a time.
Third to fifth: potions (commercial or user made), scrolls and
spells (bought or custom made)
For potions: better equipment increases both duration and
strength. But there is an uber-risk that the effect may be
permanent

this is only good. since it would make it more complicated to manage levels
If you need a level rise alone, use the command <setpclevel xx> I think.
You can look up all the codes in the CS under Help->functions or function

Not so, not so. Every npc has a speechcraft threshhold. Once this is
reached, there is nothing gained by raising it any higher. If you fancy
the game, just drink one or more potiions that drains your personality.
There is a limited range of relationships between the wedges (two)
The good or the bad are either juxtaposed or on the same half of
the circle
But you shouldn't ignore the fame - infamy count either. If you complete
the main quest in the start of the game, you won't need speechcraft
at all, unless you need it to boost your personality. I usually concentrate
on mercantile instead plus illusion

Not that rare. There are minimum one in most ayleid ruins but they are hard
to find,
and there are pussles to solve (finding how to open the container)
