Jumping in a bit late but anyway...

I've got four 'one-man' guilds (on RP-PvP servers). After I created
the guild, I then got on my wife's PC and created a trial account. I
then invited the new trial account alt into my guild, promoted him to
officer, and then used him to invite all of my other alts on my 'real'
account. I only needed other players to create the new guild
charter. Paying 1g per signature worked well.

My 'one man' guilds are organized thus:
7 'mains' (one for each major profession: Blacksmith, Leather, Tailor,
Alchemy, Engineering, Enchanting, Jewelcraft. Some of them have
Mining as 2nd prof, one has Herbalism and one has Skinning; most have
Fishing, some have Cooking, and some have First Aid).
1 'mule'
1 'banker'
1 to have fun with; trying to twink this one at lvl 19

I keep the mule and banker separate as I was having trouble
remembering which items I wanted to sell and which I wanted to keep.

I only play my characters when 'rested' (hence, the guild name
<Playing the Blues>
Check www.playingtheblues.org for my not-very-updated web page.

Downsides:
Characters level slowly (over time)
Sometimes I actually forget whether I'm playing a Horde or Alliance
chararacter and have wandered into a 'bad' area (Splintertree post,
for example). Smile
Icon confusion. Same icon is often used for different class
functions. (Hit 'stoneform' once only to realize it was something
else on different alt)

Upsides:
I'm rarely bored!
Money is more of an issue. Since I'm always leveling while 'blue', I
end up killing less mobs, hence less drops, hence less money.
Also, profession leveling is expensive! I'm thinking of deferring
profession leveling until my alts get much higher.

Current mains are scattered between lvl 33 and 35.

Yeh, I know. I'm demented. Smile

Dont you want to see the game? You have an opportunity to do something 90%
of players here cant and that is see actually new content (we saw it 2 years
ago) but you decide to stay with lowbies.
I also dont understand what does a slow player mean... give me a char
whatever class and I'll have it to 70 in 1 month, no powerleveling, just
normal questing. I got to 70 a mage, druid, rogue and lock and to 60 a
shaman, warrior, and another rogue (pre tbc), so it's hard for me to
understand how you didnt get to 70 1 char to see the content at least if you
dont want any endgame.

Damn - I must be slow as hell. I'm approaching the 1 year point, and I've
currently got a 70 rogue, a 69.5 warlock, and a hunter, priest, mage, and
druid in the 23-26 range.

I don't play daily, but I'm on several times during the week for 3-4 hours
at a time. What's your play schedule look like?

Or have sons who play.....Smile I have two accounts now. I have three guild
banks. All I did was have my youngest join, made him GM and then I logged
in each of my alts and he invited them into the guild. Then he transferred
ownership back to me and I removed him. It's really very easy. He'd made a
guild of his own but decided he didn't need it. Guild bank has 4 tabs so I
gave him 1k gold for it yesterday. I'm going to put it on my second account
once it's out of the ten day trial period.

No you have to give someone invite power and log in your alts and have
them to invite. Perhaps you can bribe someone with an extra gold Smile

Just make a lvl 1 toon to be your banker. I see folks do that alot on the
blackwing lair-US server. I have one in Silvermoon, one in UC and now one
stationed in Org. If I decide I don't want to take time to take a main toon
over out of Outlands, then I just log in on a banker and transfer something
over. This is especially handy when my hearthstone is on CD. But hey, it
ain't cheap those bank tabs....the 6th one is 5k gold. 5th one is 2500 4th
one is 1k, 3rd one is 750 I think...2nd one is 500....I have 5 tabs on the
original and then 4 on the other two. I horde alot of stuff...lol I see
folks who put their bankers in tuxedos, or wedding dresses.......or naked.

At 30c per mailed item, plus the general hassle of having to log out, mail
something, and switch back, plus the fun of keeping track of what is in
which character bank, I've given this some thought myself.

Plus, the added space - you get more than 100g worth of bag slots out of
the deal.

The downside is that my chars all have to be in my private guild to make it
useful, which takes me out of my real guild. Or, I lose all benefits
except extra storage, if I just stick my banker into it... Still
debating...

I'm very fond of the Rest State mechanic, so I always take a break from
playing a character, when his or her rest state is spent, or nearly spent.

You'd be better *not* using rested state if you actually want to see new
content - since levelling got sped up if you're rested you won't get to
see most zones because you outlevel them too fast :-/

Just forget that rest exists ^^
Rest is nice it's a bonus but nothing more than that. For example if I want
to play my rogue I want to play my rogue regardless of rest, in that moment
the rogue is the char that interests me most and I will play him regardless
of anything. There is a reason I play each char, for example I find playing
lock very satisfying and I got mine to 70 just like that, I really enjoyed
to level him pre elites nerf and I couldnt wait something elite to take down
with him Smile
If you mostly quest like I do then rest shouldnt matter all that much
anyway.

Yep, and that goes double on an RP server. If you can't scrape together a
single complete sentence, kill your own freaking boars. *

I would go on the lower side. Having recently completed 29-60 on a
long-abandoned alt in less than 2 days played, I can say that leveling out
of the newbie zone is ridiculously fast - an hour or two per level if
you're doing nothing but questing and being fairly smart about it. *

It's not as bad as that - if you start a long questline when it first turns
yellow, it is still likely to be green by the last step. What you do find
is that there is never a reason to grind, even for one bubble. Just quest
away until you feel like going somewhere else because stuff is too easy.

The one annoying thing with hunters in this system are pets - if you quest
a lot, they're always going to lag behind you. Someone who doesn't get
attached to pets won't have a big problem with this, but since I've had the
same cat since level 10, it was occasionally irritating that I couldn't
apply a new skill to my pet because they weren't high enough yet. *

Some people just don't level fast. I've never understood it myself - I had
my first 60 in 15 days /played, but the subsequent ones have been a LOT
less.

Leveling is a function of time online, not elapsed time. 6 months might be
totally reasonable if you play just a few hours a week. *

I think I've come in somewhere the 15-20 days /played to 70 as well, but I
also like to hit 70 with my skills maxed - of those 20 days, approximately
32 were spent fishing. Wink

>Leveling is a function of time online, not elapsed time. 6 months might be

That's why I was asking about a play schedule - if you can get to 70 in a
month, and that takes (guessing) 10 days /played, that's 8 hours a day,
every day. Even without job/wife/kids, I'm not sure I could do that.
