On one RP server, I have 9 Alliance characters, 3 of whom are actively
played, 2 high-level are retired (but having dinged 35 I might use them
for some crafting eventually, and I do use one for gathering), and the
other 4 are level 10-20 but no longer played (I had a 5th such
character, but a few hours ago I mailed all his items and gold away, and
deleted him).
I mail a lot of items back and forth between my characters, materials to
crafters and then to end users, but it would probably be a lot easier of
I could have a Guild Vault. I know Guilds in World of Warcraft are meant
to be for multiple players, but how difficult would it be for me to get
my own guild? Would I need the cooperation of another player, temporarily?
How exactly does the signing process work? I can only play one character
at a time, but would be easier to get another player to collect
signatures, since then I can sign with my 9 characters and then he only
need to "farm" a single outside/temp signature (or I can make a 10th
character temporarily, to sign the last name on the charter), after
which the Guild is created, and the other playe leaves it. Or should I
gather the signatures myself?
Also, how commonly is this done? I'm sure I'm not the first to get this
idea.

Paying 1 or 2 gold to lowbies if they sign seems to do the trick, make it
clear they're only there until the guild is actually formed. >> Stay informed about: How easy is it to make a one-man guild? |

How does joining work, once the Guild is made? Do applications "linger",
or does a guild member have to be online to accept a membership application?

You will need several people with unique accounts to sign. If you offer
money, many people will sign. Be honest and explain that you won't keep
them as members. Once that is done, convince at least one of them to
assist you in adding your alts. Bribes help with this process too. >> Stay informed about: How easy is it to make a one-man guild? |

They sign a "charter" after you invite them. When you got ten members
signing the charter the guild is formed. They don't have to be online
for the guild to form as long as they already signed the charter.
After the guild is formed you can kick all members and guild will still
exist even if you are the only member. >> Stay informed about: How easy is it to make a one-man guild? |

But can I invite my alts?

I thought so.
I also just found out that even the first tab in the Guild Bank costs
100 gold. That's rather a lot, for making item-sharing a little more
convenient.

At 30c per mailed item, plus the general hassle of having to log out, mail
something, and switch back, plus the fun of keeping track of what is in
which character bank, I've given this some thought myself.
Plus, the added space - you get more than 100g worth of bag slots out of
the deal.
The downside is that my chars all have to be in my private guild to make it
useful, which takes me out of my real guild. Or, I lose all benefits
except extra storage, if I just stick my banker into it... Still
debating...

There are very few things in Warcraft (or life, for that matter) that
can't be obtained when using complete sentences with proper
capitalization and punctuation.
Go some evening to a busy spot with a lot of unguilded characters (the
Ironforge bank/auction house in my case) and approach one at a
time. Say something like, "Hello, I need ten signatures to create a
new guild. May I ask you to sign the charter? I would of course have
you leave once the guild's been created," not "SIGN MY CHRTER PLZ" or,
even worse, throwing up a signature window without any warning
whatsoever. Took me about an hour to get ten signatures, without
having to pay a single copper.
Once the guild's up you will of course need another person's character
to invite your alternate characters, one at a time. Create a guild
rank that has the power to invite and nothing else. In my case, since
I only had one character to invite besides the guild leader, I simply
(again) politely asked an unguilded character in Ironforge to
temporarily join the guild, invite my alternate, then leave. In your
case, I'd find an in-game friend with the patience to take the several
minutes that inviting eight characters will take.

Look, English is my native language, and I am also usenet savvy, but I
DON'T think those facts alone make be better than other people.
What makes me better than other people is that I know that that doesn't
make me better than other people.

I don't think language fluency makes anyone a better or worse person, but
I'll be the first to admit, I don't tend to respond to people who get too
creative with net-speak beyond the basics - brb, afk, lol.
Says nothing about their quality as a person beyond reflecting poorly on
their ability to communicate. And no matter what your native language, I
don't think anyone is teaching gr8, plz, etc, in any courses.

Gotta admit I'm the same; I tend to think people who don't make the
effort to communicate clearly and plotiely aren't going to be
particularly good people to group with (and often that is the case)

Yes, but I'm a slow player. I usually subscribe for 1-3 months, then
take a break from the game, lasting some months, before I subscribe
again. I also have a tendency to retire my characters and start over.
