Well I haven't been reading RGRA before now,
so I don't know what has already been said.
I'll post any-way the things I have done and
seen regarding Filk and MM. Mostly I fiddled
with this in ADOM 100 I don't know if the
same things are true in ADOM 111.
I have killed the MM and talked with Filk,
I didn't notice that it did any thing
beneficial for me. I forget what he said
exactly but it was just a thank you.
If you make the MM hostile or afraid and
then 'c'hat with him he says 'hast ye
seen the man with the harmonica, I need
him how and here'...or was it 'here and
how' I forget. This made me curious because
when you 'l'ook at Filk and press 'm' the
monster memory says something like 'there
is a humming noise surrounding him as he
moves... a tune of strangly compelling power'.
Again I'm not cutting and pasting here, I'm
just trying to recall old memories.
I thought for a while that there might be a
relationship between the two, more than just
wanting each other dead that is. One is a
Minstrel, the other a Bard, maybe proffesional
rivalry? Is the humming noise from Filk just
regular air disturbance... or maybe he's
carrying a harmonica?
When Yggaz says 'Search the bard and hit him
hard' does he mean to kill Filk, or to hit
the MM to make him give the different responce
when 'c'hatted with. Or make him give the
message some other way to avoid making him
hostile?
Well I don't know about all that but I do
remember a funny trick that worked back in
ADOM 100, to create multiple Filks. Just
make sure you only have 1 kill of your 1st
kill, so Filk will be on level 1 of the ID.
Search him out on the level, and then
teleport him from room to room, until he's
in the room with the ascending staircase.
Stand on the stairs and wait for him to
stand next to you, and lead him out of the
ID. He will follow you, even to the MM
clearing. Once there (or any where) he neither
does nor says any thing special.
I think the next thing to do was just go back
to the ID and do it again, but maybe that's
wrong. It might have been a bug that caused
you to have multiple requests to allow Filk
to accompany you while you travelled through
the wilderness, after doing it just once.
I forget exactly, but I do distinctly remember
one character that I had, that dropped off about
a dozen Filks at the MM's clearing.
I seem to recall a line in one of the 'recent
changes' files or whatever it's called for ADOM 111,
Saying that it's no longer possible to create
multiple Filks. I may be wrong on that one.
