nintendo ds lite

HI all

I recently purchased a Nintendo DS Lite from E-bay. However its in Japenese. Now I have the English manual I thought great can convert to English.

I cannot get the screen up that allows you to do this, its just has text in Japenese on the lower screen.

Help, can anyone provide an idots guide on what I ned to do, the manual is of no use.
