Ha. Those screen sots represent the difference between what they
believed they could do and what is actually possible witht he PS3
hardware.. The wave animaton is cool, a nice detail, but the frame
rate on this is horrible. So bad, I'm suprised they would even demo
it. Aside from the ways, the detail looks comparable to something on
the PS2.

To be fair, this is unfished, but I don't imagine Lair will be a huge
hit. I wouldn't pay $20 for this game.

Lair has been through 2 major graphically downgrades already. it
doesn't look THAT good. To me, only the water is impressive. the
framerate sucks. the gameplay looks very boring. Yeah, Lair will
sell a few PS3s, but not even close to enough to save the platform,
which is TANKING everywhere.

only thing that can save PS3 is a 1/3 pricecut to $400 and plenty of
good games, as well as some killer exclusives that cannot be played on
Xbox 360. none of this seems to be happening yet.

It shows some promise -- nice visuals, though the framerate's not
looking too hot right now -- but it'll come down to how much fun the
game is to play, and whether or not they actually get the Sixaxis
control right. Because so far, not a single PS3 game has made good use
of this "revolutionary" new control method.

It is Factor 5 though, so my hopes are still high.

As for other whiz-bang technology goodness, Factor 5 confirms that the
game will run at a rock-solid 30fps at both 720p and 1080p. The game
indeed ran quite well when we played it, with nary a hitch in
framerate to be found. This is rather impressive as levels can be as
large as 32x32km in size, which is allowed by Factor 5's use of
streaming mesh technology, an offshoot of level of detail models.

are you people looking at the actual frame rate? Or simply the speed
of the game itself???
Unless the animations are jumping all over the place....you cant tell
if the FPS is below even 30 on a demo like that...

It doesn't look like it plays that well. Hard to tell at this point but
I've seen quite a few bits where the dragon looks unweildy or just buts
into an object and bumps back at a right angle (much like previous
factor five games). Sort of takes all the majesty out of the experience
I'd say.

Ok, there is something just plain wrong with the Lair trailer when it
comes with an ad for Super Paper Mario before it

As for Lair, will see how it develops. The draw distance didn't look
that hot either in it. The details of the water and background were
nice. Framerate does need work also..

I realize that I should expect bullshit when it comes to previews of games
for the PS3 but it's starting to really get annoying just how much bullshit
there is. Why do they have to do it when Microsoft and Nintendo don't?

Hopefully it's a good game and I realize that there's a lot going on under
the hood but hopefully the graphics and gameplay can live up to the hype and
it's not just a technical demo.

You're right, it may indeed sell thousands, even hundreds of thousands
of PS3's if it indeed is as good as the hype. It's just too bad the
PS3 needs to sell MILLIONS more, not thousands. I think Lair will be
a good game but is too little too late for the PS3. Sony needs a
dozen games like Lair for the PS3, not just one.
