I was just trying to joke with you and use a slang word that was not in
games.
Guess it fell flat. LOL

Probably.

Oh, I got what you were saying. I was confused because I thought
someone was complaining about what we were discussing, but I didn't see
the post. I see now that it was in another thread. You should see the
newsgroups where I've put almost every thread on ignore! Lots of people
talk about things I'm not interested in. My computers are so old that I
can't play most of the games discussed here anymore, so I just watch for
threads about old games usually. >> Stay informed about: Why doesnt anyone make a first person adventure game? |

Yes, I thought you might have read the thread "Hey Mary" but if you
didn't
you wouldn't know what I meant.

Yes, same here. I filter out threads and block some posters on some NG's
I check out daily. I think everybody does. A filter is very handy so you
don't have to put up with trolls or sometimes if the subject is not
interesting.

I didn't know your computers were old, but it explains why I haven't
seen you here for a long time.
Do you not feel any need to update your computer? You have missed out on
some newer games which have been pretty good, Syberia is just one which
comes to mind right away. Great game. Were you able to play it? You used
to play a lot of adventure games and post on this NG here and there.

Er, the origin of the slang "poxy" is a little darker. The permanent
scars of smallpox if you were lucky enough to survive..... Somebody
with heavily pock-marked features from smallpox or heavy-duty acne.

There were a lot of reasons why I wasn't on the newsgroups for a couple
of years. I'd peek in from time to time, but I didn't have time to
post.

I used to keep my computers updated just to play games, but I can't see
spending all that money for only a couple of good games a year. Most of
the action games I'm interested in are available on Playstation 1 or 2,
and I don't have to worry on them if my processor is fast enough or I've
got the right graphics card. I just noticed Syberia is available for
PS2 and X-Box too. Maybe I'll check it out. It looks like my notebook
computer could play it. My desktops can't because I still run DOS or
Win95 on them. >> Stay informed about: Why doesnt anyone make a first person adventure game? |

Well, nice to see you again. So many of the old crowd have disappeared.
Thats the way NGs sometimes go, and there have not been many adventure
games. There are a few coming out soon but its not like the glory days
when there were lots of adventure games being released. But I am always
hoping the adventure market will pick up. I still replay some of my old
games from time to time.

You have a point. I upgraded my computer a couple of years ago, but
haven't done much with it since.

I think you would like Syberia 1. Syberia 2 was good too, but the first
one was the best IMO.
Also, you might like Black Mirror. But other than those, I can't think
of any outstanding newish computer games.

Depends on whether Don enjoys exclusively 3rd person "quest adventure"
types or whether he also enjoys puzzlers. RHEM and RHEM 2 are great
puzzlers and Return to Mysterious Island had an interesting new take on
inventory puzzles. The required specs for the RHEM games are low, but I
think Return to Mysterious Island required a 64 MB video card so I don't
know if it would work on the laptop or not. Alida and the updated remake
of Bad Mojo, Dark Fall, and Dark Fall: Lights Out might also be worth a
look. >> Stay informed about: Why doesnt anyone make a first person adventure game? |

My favorite adventure game is Sanitarium. I recently played the
Valhalla Classics and enjoyed them a lot except for one timed sequence.
I play action games, so I don't mind a little bit of action in my
adventure games. I don't like Myst type games. In fact, I've never
finished the original Myst because I found it too boring. >> Stay informed about: Why doesnt anyone make a first person adventure game? |

I've heard some people were able to play Syberia with a 4 MB video card,
even though the specs call for more. Unfortunately they were unable to
play Syberia 2. >> Stay informed about: Why doesnt anyone make a first person adventure game? |
