Surely some of you are Underworlding by now.

I'm a PS2 guy. If I understand correctly, versions for all OTHER platforms
were released yesterday (in the U.S.). I'm guessing they're deliberately
stalling the PS2 release until next January -- probably in an attempt to
sell more PS3 and X360 consoles for Christmas.

Guess what? Won't work for me! I want that PS2 version. Meanwhile, I can
listen to you guys gab about the game and see which way the thumbs point.
If it completely sucks, I may avoid it all together. (Hoping that's not the
case, though.)

So -- start yacking about it (the real deal, not the demo).

Haven't bought it yet. Thinking about getting it via Steam. Smile

Well, there will be patches. Or, there better be. The camera is still
screwy, the movements are jerky and too quick, and I still can't map the
damn right mouse button!

I've been disappointed thus far. That's not to say it's bad, it just
needs a lot of work.

Hmm.

Well, at least PC versions can BE patched. There's another reason that it
may be a GOOD thing for guys like me that the PS2 version has been delayed.
Maybe they'll fix some stuff.

Yeah. F'ing cameras. Cameras are just plain hard to get right. They have
to not pop into walls, not get caught in tight places, not jerk fitfully
around trying to avoid such things -- and still be as maneuverable as
possible. I do a bit of geometry programming for a 3D modeling and
animation program (Esperient Creator). I haven't done any work with
cameras -- but I can well imagine the difficulties. I remember that in the
early TRs, it was very difficult to get the camera to swing around and show
Lara's face. There were little nooks in some levels that you could squeeze
Lara into and the camera couldn't follow -- so it HAD to swing around in
front of her. So, I think the modern camera has been improved a little
(unless they just now broke it again). But I'd sure believe it if it's
still pretty far from perfect.

That looks painfull Smile

I can't tell you how many times I jump from a ledge to my death because the
@#$! camera moves enough so that instead of jumping to the side she jumps
backwards and into the void. There are places where the camera appears to
guess where you want it to be when it would be better off if they just let
the damn thing alone.

One of the really kewl things about the PC version is that you can use the
mouse to position the camera with high resolution. I play with a MS
Sidewinder control, and I frequently have to use the mouse to move the
camera to where I want it to be.

I can't say I'm enjoying this game very much. It's very buggy and
annoying in a lot of places. Especially during fights. And I just
can't get the idea of this headshot thing. I'd take the adreniline
dodge over this. Her movements are not very fluid, she's slow and
jumping and climbing is a 'oh good lord i have to jump/climb??'
experience. Big sigh....

I'm disappointed....
