I don't know if this is a good group site to exchange ideas in regards
to the type of games I enjoy playing. I like non RPG games more than
any other type. I am presently playing Echo secrets of the Lost
Cavern. I have played all of the MYST series and have approxmately 50
game titles on my book shelves. some being old DOS games. I would be
nice to find others who share my same interests in games of mystery
and puzzles.

This group was created to talk about exactly these kind of games. Well
that, and scams.

It would be nice if some of us could exchange reviews of games that
were true and honest as to how difficult or ridiculous some of the
puzzles were. I also would enjoy hearing recommendations as to some of
the enjoyments gained by playing newly discovered or issued games. I
have found that the Adventure Company has most of the games that
provide the most enjoyable and entertaining experiences.

That's because Adventure Company (division of Dreamcatcher) publishes
most of the adventure games in the US, period. (Although Got Game has
started to approach them in the last couple of years.)

My reviews over the years are collected at

I recently finished Dreamfall: The longest Journey and i can recommend this
game very much. I also have played many adventuregames like myst and would
like to see some more good adventuregames like dreamfall because they are
rare these days.
The games I played the last few years and can recommend: syberia 1 and 2,
return to mysterious island, broken sword sleeping dragon, atlantis etc. but
you prob. have played them already.

I am going to have to give Dreamfall a check out. One game that never
got a lot of publicity but was really similar to myst is ZORK Nemesis.

Zork Nemesis did pretty well and, for a long time, was a very high
profile title.

It's Zork: Grand Inquisitor, which came out later and didn't get that
popular, even though a lot of folks claimed it to be a much better
game in addition to being a better fit for the Zork series.

IMO, Zork Grand Inquisitor probably was a better fit (or likeness you might
say say) to the earlier Zork series, and Zork Nemesis was not as much like
the earlier Zork games, but I thought Zork Nemesis was a much better all
round game.

What do you guys think of Indigo Prophecy?

The ending felt rushed and many of the puzzles were relatively easy
but this would have been almost the perfect adventure game otherwise.

An interesting attempt, but the one-interface-fits-all theory turns
out not to work very well. A lot of the time the button dance was in
the foreground of my attention and the game events were in the
background.
