1. I know I am really dumb, but I can't figure out how to delete a
commercial neighborhood from my basic neighborhood. I cannot find the option
anywhere.
2. Is there a way to load different housebins according to the neighboorhood
I'm planning to play? I have a very urban neighborhood and a southwestern
one and another one with the Stonehouses and so on...each one of them needs
different houses, but unfortunately there are only so many houses you can
keep in the bin. I've tried the trick of deleting them from the bin after
putting them in the game, so i can have more room, but it's not optimal...So
I was wondering if I can put them in different folders in the Lot directory,
and then move away the directories I don't want to play with, and put them
in again when I need them...I don't know if this makes any sense anyway.

Thanks a lot

Well, I don't know why you couldn't. You could certainly try it. You'd
have to have several "LotCatalog" folders, storing them elsewhere and
putting in only the one you wanted before you start the game. It would take
a while to get it all set up but it might work. If you do try it and it
works, be sure to come back and post about it. It might well be a trick
that others might like to use.

That's because there *is* no option. Sad

I don't think you can do that until you add a second neighbourhood of the
same type - in other words, once you have added a sub-hood, you always have
to have one of that type.

Yes, I should think that would work though I would think you'd need to have
the files loose in LotCatalog. Have you tried having more than a few lots
in the lot bin though? I'm moving neighbourhoods at the moment, and I have
had 20 or more lots in the bin and haven't found a limit yet. I do keep
deleting (to keep things tidy and lighten the load on memory). Personally,
I don't usually want more than one or two copies of a lot in any given
neighbourhood and I store lots I want to keep in a neighbourhood I made for
that purpose, called Store.

Best wishes

I am going to try it. Again, I don't know if it is just me, but my files in
the LotCatalog folder have no specific name - just progressive numbering.
Maybe there is an option on the CleanInstaller to change this? Otherwise, I
guess the only way to distinguish one house from the other is from inside
the game - delete the unwanted,, then exit and save the catalog folder with
an explicative name, install new houses, delete the unwanted, etc. It will
be a long task but just what my obsessive self likes to do, so I am fine. I
will keep you posted on the results.

But I have two-subhoods of that type...the first is too big and I can't use
it, so I wanted to delete it, but apparently I can't? and why??

I have lots of houses...surely more than 20, the Lot Catalog folder has 200+
files, but I can't believe these are all houses...my gosh. But there are
some themed neighborhoods that are just great...I cannot give them up.
Obviously, after a while (I haven't still understood what is the limit) some
of the houses start to disappear, and re-appear again if I delete something.
I will try to have multiple LotCatalog to load, but, the idea of the Store
hood is just great. I could put everything there and then move houses around
according to the game I am planning to play. Thanks a lot!

No - that's how it's meant to be.

It's just the way the game works - I'd guess it's to do with the sims that
get created for the sub-hoods, you have to have the sub-hood once you've
created the sims. Also, I don't think you can delete a sub-hood which has
sims resident in it.

If you have more than 200 in LotCatalog, I'm not surprised you're having
difficulty. That's a lot of lot files for the game to handle. Believe me,
more than 20 is a lot. Make your Store neighbourhood a separate stand-alone
neighbourhood and not a sub-hood. If you attach it to another hood it will
just slow the gameplay down in that hood. Remember dorms will only appear
in the University sub-hood lot directory. Also, if you make a neighbourhood
for storing lots, I'd DAC it (delete all characters) once you have it set
up. You're not going to play in that neighbourhood and there'll be a lot of
character files in the hood just taking up space for no good reason. They
will just make the neighbourhood slower to load. I also have a
neighbourhood called Test BTW.

Best wishes

I have a Test, never thought of a Store, great idea that.

That's why I said it would take a while to get it all set up. <g>

Why doesn't BodyShop have an option to geneticise skins when it would be so
easy? Why do EA patches break more than they fix? Why is the sky blue?

Actually I can answer the last one. The sky is blue because:

"A clear cloudless day-time sky is blue because molecules in the air scatter
blue light from the sun more than they scatter red light. When we look
towards the sun at sunset, we see red and orange colours because the blue
light has been scattered out and away from the line of sight." "The white
light from the sun is a mixture of all colours of the rainbow. This was
demonstrated by Isaac Newton, who used a prism to separate the different
colours and so form a spectrum. The colours of light are distinguished by
their different wavelengths. The visible part of the spectrum ranges from
red light with a wavelength of about 720 nm, to violet with a wavelength of
about 380 nm, with orange, yellow, green, blue and indigo between. The
three different types of colour receptors in the retina of the human eye
respond most strongly to red, green and blue wavelengths, giving us our
colour vision."
http://math.ucr.edu/home/baez/physics/General/BlueSky/blue_sky.html

Sorry, I'm in a funny mood this morning. For answers to your much more
Sims-relevant question you'll have to try asking EA.

I knew the answer to the sky question, too...the others? Just sheer
perversity is all I can think of at the moment...and corporate greed...
