Okay now my thoughts on resurrecting Vacation/On Holiday:

Vacation Island Still should have the same three sections as before (Beach,
Woods, and Mountain) but with some additions.

Beach: Everything the same but add a "Wave Pool" and have a surfing
competition.

Woods: Add a skeet shooting range, fishing hole, and a deer stand. There
should also be trophies for these items. For those who take exeption to
hunting, we can have the deer stand be used for taking pictures instead.

Mountain: Not much to add that I can think of. Maybe a finding Sasquatch/Big
Foot/Yeti contest.....

Oh maybe add theme park style rides. If you have OFB then you can also open
a park to make money off of.

There is a rumour running around about it being a Vacation EP next - I've
heard mention of surfing and a tanning function.

Best wishes

I just hope that the stuff that made Vacation great isn't taken out like
what Nightlife did to Hot Date.

What did they take out of Hot Date? I can barely remember what was
new in HD. I didn't use it for the dating function. I just liked
having Downtown and the addition of the Townies.

For one thing, you can't buy clothes for your dates.

Oh, right. I forgot about that. I never did that. I occasionally
bought a box of chocolates for someone. That's about it.

So what made Vacation great, out of curiosity?

I miss how the non-controlled sims would meet for a meal. They'd appear on
different ends of the lot, then meet in the middle, talk to each other, then
go eat.

And then while seated there was a lot more social options available. Or so
it seemed. (In NL, there's just toast and blow kiss)

And you could buy gifts and such for other sims.

The interactions were fun to watch. I had a Sim of my mom in the game
in Sims 1, with a head made from Face Factory, and one of my ex-
boyfriend. In real life, they always got along well, and in the game,
the Mom Sim let him tickle her (and enjoyed it) when they had really
low relationship points, which surprised me. The ex-BF showed up at a
restaurant Downtown once and was having a meal with some female Sim
when the Mom Sim showed up and went over to their table and stood
there for a while, like, "Hey, buddy, what am I? Chopped liver?" It
was a hoot.

On the other hand, I like the gifts they get in Sims 2 when the date
goes well, and the love letters. My Nina Caliente has quite a
collection of single roses and rose bouquets (though it made her new
husband cry to look at one from someone she dated before she ever met
him). After her first dream date with her future husband, he brought
her a piano as a gift, which was nice because they first met when he
was playing a piano at a place downtown. The one that puzzled me was
when she got a cleaning point as a benefit of a dream date with Brandi
Broke. Then my sister pointed out that Nina and Brandi had woohooed
in the picture booth, and Nina may have done some, er, cleaning that
earned her the point!

If they do something comparable for Sims 2, I hope they let the other
vacationers sleep over. I hated that everybody left for the night
except the target family. What kind of hotel has only one family as
guests? And the camping would have been more fun with more families.
I used to use a transporter to bring other Sims in, but if you didn't
keep them busy, they would leave very soon.
