Hehe lucky, right now I'm stacking several up in the same spot on my
screen, got damage meters (usually minimised), DoTtimer and Mendwatch all
in the same place (I don't really have DoTimer tracking anything on my
priest so it doesn't shout at mendwatch too much thankfully) and
unfortauntely that place seems the only obvious one for a threat meter as
well, sigh. Oh and CTRA hangs out at that side of the screen on my
non-healer characters as well, argh Wink

True, with my rogue I know the class well enough to adjust after a couple
of pulls but as a warlock... I just have no clue about aggro management on
warlocks tbh. Holding back and not spamming shadowbolt is an obvious one,
but I feel bad standing still not doing anything :-/

Note that the threat meter can't help you if the party member you're
comparing to isn't running one. KTM and Omen broadcast the player's threat
to the other party members (Omen understands KTM data and can send KTM data
for KTM users). If that tank "wasn't the most experienced", then it's
likely he wasn't running a threat meter.

I'm suddenly reminded of boarding a plane back in the days before the fear,
when the cockpit was open and you could look over all the gauges and
controls on a jumbo jet and wonder how the crew kept track of all that
information.

Now I can imagine a 747 pilot coming out of a raid and stepping into his
cockpit and thinking, "at least *you're* simple".

LOL, and they can just use bots for all the tedious stuff without
getting grounded.

He was running one after some others in the party mentioned it and he
turned it on... after that I was the only one dying Wink It was a friend of
mine on an alt, he has similar opinions on theat meters to me from what I
can tell and only uses them when he really has to; it's a shame it's hard
to just do without them, as I really don't think they should be as
important as they are, I'm really not comfortable with them.

Very Happy

Hell yes, I always thought I was pretty light on addons, till I realised
how full my screen was getting Razz Problem is I keep on finding little
addons that make something easier and adding them, until I've got loads of
them...

One trick that is used in Omen is for specific boss fight, it keeps
track of possible add spawns. E.g. if you engage Moroes, he knows there
are 5 targets to spread your healing threat over. On bosses that spawn
adds during the fight (e.g. Illhoof) Omen increases the enemy count
based on the text messages that typically display during a phase change
or add spawn. The mod keeps track of NPCs dying, so he can adjust the
amount of mobs that have you in their aggro list. In cases where it is
uncertain, the mod uses the worst case scenario (which is 1 on e.g.
trash packs).

It isn't perfect yet, but already a big improvement over dumbing down
threat aggro to single target aggro in every case.
