I use cartographer, gatherer, and auctioneer. (Opinions welcome on these
too.)
I usually main tank our small group in level 60ish outlands.
What's the consensus on a good damage taken and given meter? I've heard
there is a problem getting pet damage added to hunters (and possibly locks?) >> Stay informed about: Which damage meter mod to use? |

I like Recap, it's great for soloing and small groups and tracks a
good range of statistics. I don't know how useful it would be in a
raiding situation though - there you pretty much need everyone to be
running the same damage meter addon and have them synchronised.

With best regards, Shammy.
Recap is good for soloing and very limited in group, I use it to see
personal statistics and to see what kind of spells do other use and their
dmg, but to see total dmg I use damagemeters (yes it's called damagemeters,
the one that uses /dm show command to make it appear).
Damagemeters can be synchronised with others and give pretty accurate
results.
As for hunters pets, they need to have dmgmeters installed and set in
options "treat pet data as own data" and syncronisation enabled to see their
dmg.
Recap will not show data 100% accurate for others but you can get an idea.
For example recap will show hunter pet dmg as another player and you will
always notice that BM hunters will be pretty low on dmg and the pet too but
when you sum those 2 numbers together the hunter will be on top of dmg. >> Stay informed about: Which damage meter mod to use? |

Since you already use a lot of Ace mods, check out Recount. It shows a
lot of stats besides "Damage Done" and is especially useful for
showing the damage done during the last fight. I usually don't post
overall damage done, but I almost always post damage done after a boss
fight. My only gripe is that you lose your teammate damage stats once
they leave the party. >> Stay informed about: Which damage meter mod to use? |

So can recap, although since no-one else I know seems to use it, that
rarely happens. I like it best of the mods I've tried anyway, it gives much
better information. Might try Recount sometime but I already have more mods
than I really need.

Um, there's an option to include the pet in the player's damage, not that
hard to sort that problem

I use SW stats, and that works great. It automatically syncs with other
people running it, without you having to do anything.
Pets are no problem either. You can select whether you want the pet to show
as a separate entity or merge it with the owner (and it doesn't matter what
settings other people use for it, it will just add the 2 numbers for you).
It also shows other stuff like damage taken, healing done and overhealing
(in raw numbers as well as % of course).

I pretty much loathe damagemeters, and kick people from raids who post the
sheets, but I *do* run one for boss encounter analysis. Recap is the nicest
one I've found. *

Your living in the past... Recap now syncs and is by far and away the
best damage meter mod.
I have converted my guild to it and all like it.
No issues with pet data - its all there, merged or seperate - you can
choose.
Can get it from here

Thanks for the link, when I last looked he wasn't updated for a long time

Normally I think you feel too strongly in your dislike of damage meters but
I'm coming to partially agree, when I see two different people on my
guild's forum saying a new healer made all the other healers look rubbish,
based entirely off healing meters. Idiots; I don't even raid beyond Kara
and I know healing meters are no indicator of how good a healer is...
nowadays not even overheal % means much, so frankly there's no reason to
condemn people based off low healing meters. I use them myself to see how I
compare to others but certainly don't care if I end up higher or lower.
I suppose I should expect no better however, as one of the people
commenting was the new recruit who I wasn't happy about joining the guild
in the first place and the other was one of his cronies, sigh. These people
were brought in to improve the raiding performance... well maybe they can
play their own classes but they're showing a nice lack of knowledge about
others.

No not so much.
If a healer is playing reactively its bad news all around which is
what he'd have to be doing to get stats like you said(or just be
really lucky).
Meters dont do jack for healers - skill is tough to quantify with
stats in this case. >> Stay informed about: Which damage meter mod to use? |

Yeah, the better the tank is, the worse the healer becomes. ; )

Compare "Healing Done" to "Overhealing Done" and see if the person
