Ah, the behaviour here is useful more for spell targetting than missile
targetting. The '>' meaning 'pick this spot' is useful for area-effect
spells like fireball: selecting a square normally fires the fireball in
the direction of that square and it explodes when it first hits
something, while selecting a square with '>' makes the fireball explode
on that square unless it hits something first.
