If one of those robes turns out to be cursed, great -- you can find
remove curse (unless you already have).

Unless that wand turns out to be something offensive and
non-cold-related, you'll just have to ignore them for now. Nice hunk of
experience when they fall.
Try to make a note of what down staircase is nearest them, so you don't
retreat up that way when doing the next level.
