um, didn't you have to have a chipped psx1, or at least some gadget
for using backups? Same thing with ps2.

Yes, you can even play PS1 and PS2 backups on the PS2.
You will need a swap magic disk and slide tool, or slim tool depening
on the model of PS2 you own, a DVD burner, high quality DVD-r's and
CD-r's, and a PSXchange disk.

I should have reworded that.
You can play PS1 backups with the PSXChange disk or Gameshark bonus
disk, or as you said, AR2 bonus disk.
