Ok lady gamers, my wife and I are trying to get more interested in each
others hobbies (kids are now out of the house). My wife unwinds watching
movies, I unwind in front of the computer (adventure or light FPS (halo,
UT2004 and Raven Shield)). I agreed to watch more movies (not to
difficult) and she wants to try a computer co-op game (I have a wireless
LAN at home). She is not interested in FPS or violet games (well maybe
if we could be on the same team), so what is left except adventure.
-Mike
BTW her computer (older one) is an Athlon 64 3500+ with an ATI X700. It
should play anything except maybe the newest games. I would use a new
laptop (dual core, 2gb ram, ATI X1400) >> Stay informed about: any coop adventure games? |

I don't know of any adventure games like that but there are card
games...which of course, isn't what you were asking. ( IF interested
though...try SilverCreek for cards, it d/ls to your computer-works great
with LAN) >> Stay informed about: any coop adventure games? |

Annie, thanks I will check it out. It sure seems that if you can go
around on a team (COOP) and kill things, you should be able to go around
and explore things. I think some adventure games do let you play more
then one person, but only one person at a time.

As a game developer and senior college student, I don't know of any
Cooperative Adventure games, let a lone RPG games. I searched on
google and came to the conclusion here aren't any. Our current project
is called The Journeyman Chronicles, a remake of an old adventure game
series called The Journeyman Project. Our features may include a
cooperative mode, but as for now, it wont be readily playable. Sorry.
I too am surprise there are no Coop Adventure games. You'd think that
would be an excellent mix for a game.

It seems that working as a team and maybe splitting up to look for
something to solve a puzzle would work. Maybe we will see this first in
an action/adventure. My wife actually played part of a RavenShield level
(tactical shooter)which I set up to be pretty easy. She was not very
interested. She did watch me play parts of Syberia which had great
graphics but if she unwinds using the computer it is Solitaire or one of
the POPCAP games. Oh well she doesn't tie up the computer much!!

I think Project Eden is the one that comes closest and is a pretty good game
to boot. It could probably be found very cheap nowadays and should run well
on older systems/laptops since it came out back in 2001.

Lego Star Wars 2 (and probably the 1st as well but I'm not 100% sure) also
has coop mode, won several year awards and is lots of fun:

Hope that helps. >> Stay informed about: any coop adventure games? |

Thanks. I picked up 2 copies of Project Eden from Amazon for under
$20USD shipped. So far it's been fun (just finished 1st level).

Don't forget to tell us about your experience when you've made it to the
end. (I liked the game, btw, but I played it alone.)

I liked it a lot -- also playing solo. Unfortunately, I was playing
the Playstation release, which was full of bugs.

It's a nice distinction to tell American soldiers (and Iraqis) to die in
Iraq for the sake of democracy (ignoring the question of whether it's
*working*) and then whine that "The Constitution is not a suicide pact." >> Stay informed about: any coop adventure games? |

Just put the 2nd copy on my laptop and patched both. My daughter will be
home from college next week so we can try the co-op mode.

I had a chance to try this co-op with my son-in-law. We played about
half of the first level. It works very well. We each play one of the 4
team members and can switch to other members just like playing solo. If
I try to switch to the player he is playing I see a quick 'unavailable'
flash. We split into 2 teams and could search an area.
I am playing mostly solo and like the game a lot. It was very dark on my
LCD even with the brightness at 95%. I just last night (playing the mall
level) figured out how to increase the Gamma in the CCC (ATI X700 card)
menu. Now I may start over. >> Stay informed about: any coop adventure games? |
