Post subject: Does anyone know how to compile nethack on ubuntu?

Does anyone know how to compile nethack on ubuntu? I want to modify
nethack and compile it but I don't know how to compile. I would like
it if it made an executable file that I could run from the terminal,
because I will make more then one copy when testing it.

read sys\unix\README.unix in the source code.
