As far as I can follow it from what maxon said I think you actually have to
make them into a Group - as in Manage Groups - not just a party - the screen
you get for who is going out.

I just get one of the adults to ask the others to form a casual group. It's
under the 'ask' option on the sim. Don't forget to end the group
afterwards, otherwise they have an annoying habit of following one another
around.
Best wishes

I put the kids in the group with the mother before I sent them on vacation, but the option
to order food for the group doesn't come up. The kids can still only order food via room
service.
I thought there was something wrong with my game so I installed the Sims 2 and Bon voyage
clean on another computer, but the option to order food for the group doesn't show up
there either. I don't know why it doesn't work. I've tried it with the BV patch also, but
the result is the same. >> Stay informed about: The Sims 1 and 2 various comments |

I think that what they are saying is that even though they went on vacation
together and are considered a "party," for them to eat together at a
restaurant at a hotel, you have to make them form a "group." As if they
were now going to go downtown. Even though they are on vacation together,
it does not make them a "group." Use the actions to ask them to form a
group or manage groups as has been suggested. Then the little blue plumbobs
should show up and they should be able to eat.

Yes, I've tried that, I've tried every actions related to groups but no option to order
food for groups comes up.
If there is something wrong with my game I don't know where it is. Both the game and the
expack install without a problem.

Actually I found out what was wrong:
In Bon Voyage it isn't possible to order food at hotel restaurants because they simply
don't exist. There are something that looks like a restaurant in the hotels but it cannot
be used as such. Food can be ordered via roomservice for single sims or for the group and
that's it.
If you have Nightlife installed the restaurants at the hotels turn into real restaurants
and you can use the Nightlife group management to order food for the kids.
It didn't work for me because there was something wrong with my installation of Nightlife. >> Stay informed about: The Sims 1 and 2 various comments |

You know, I wondered about that at one point, did it need to have NightLife
as the Groupd came with that , then forgot all about it. Did you get it
fixed?

No. The group management in Nightlife never worked for me. I can form groups but the
option of calling group doesn't work for me at all but if I try to call group over or meat
at community lots, the sim picks up the phone and then put it down again. It can't be my
savedgames that is the problem because I've tried installing it clean on other computers
and it never works.
I discovered that Nightlife was the problem by accident, I was at a friend's to try to
fix a problem he had with the network and he has the games so I asked him to get a family
with kids to form a group and go to a BV hotel, and the group certainly work for him so
there is definitely something wrong with my copy of Nightlife.
Well, it doesn't really matter if Nl is the only thing that doesn't work, I never liked it
and I've only gone to downtown a few times. >> Stay informed about: The Sims 1 and 2 various comments |

I like a lot of things about NightLife but I rarely bother with Groups.
Mostly I build my own "downtown" style lots on the main 'hood ,too.

That's odd - I thought there was never anything buggy with Strider's game. >> Stay informed about: The Sims 1 and 2 various comments |

I don't have any problems with Nightlife except that the group thing - which I haven't
tried much - didn't work.
Anyway, I couldn't find a way to get my savedgames to work without NL, so I bought a new
copy and installed it. And there are some changes.
First I compared the new copy of NL with the old and noticed that some of the files on the
old disks are a lot smaller then the same files on the new disks. So the problem was
definitely the disks.
Another thing I discovered is that I have to change my opinion of NL a little bit.
As the group thing now works, I realise that it's a rather useful thing after all. As
forming a group and calling it together before leaving for vacation is the only way I can
take the DMA Sims on vacation and having them stay, I like it. There's no longer any
problem ordering food in hotel restaurants or downtown or getting the group to meet on
community lots.
Now I have to build a much larger hotel that has rooms for all my sims:-( >> Stay informed about: The Sims 1 and 2 various comments |
