1.) The "Bustin Out" game that appeared on consoles (2003) is not just a
simple port but a true extension of the original game. A lot of concepts
that exist in The Sims 2 were introduced here. I spend more time with Bustin
Out than with the PC "The Sims." The goal oriented structure and frequent
unlockables really make this a stimulating game that will take you a few
months to complete. It can be done much faster if you get married early.
2.) It is disappointing that The Sims 2 isn't being offered on the 360 or
PS3. They could do some interesting things with the game as Bustin Out has
proven. Furthermore the version of the Sims 2 that exists on Xbox (1) and
PS2 and Gamecube is a mere shadow of the PC version. The reason being, in
these versions your space is very limited. You can only buy a certain number
of things for your home then you get the annoying "fire code." A version of
the Sims 2 on the now-gen consoles could fix this problem and make for a
very enjoyable game. Who knows? Maybe you could actually have a 2 story
house like in the PC version. The now-gen's processors can handle it.
Rethink this please, Maxis and EA!
3.) What happened to the buffet table? I thought this was a groundbreaking
addition to the "eating" element of the game. But lo and behold the buffet
table (and the caterer) disappeared at some point.
4.) 2009 will be a good year - President Bush will leave office and the Sims
3 will come out. Hopefully in the Sims 3 there will be an expanded concept
of beverages. Drinking beverages is not really a group activity in the Sims
2, sims just sort of have a drink if one is on the bar. Sims drinking
beverages (coffee, tea, cappucino, or alcohol) should be a group activity
that causes a lot of social interaction.
I hope I've been pithy enough .... >> Stay informed about: The Sims 1 and 2 various comments |

Totally irrelevant to any sims discussion. But typical of rabid Bush
hating leftists to just throw it in there and rant about him any chance
they can get.

I liked Bustin Out better than the other console versions as well.

The Sims 3 is being ported for the new gen consoles. You just have to wait.

In the Sims 2 there is a buffet table but no caterer. Check in the party
section of buy mode. Onthe bright side you don't get the tragic clown or the
annoying party guest either. Don't know about console versions... I don't
think it's there.

I totally agree. Beverage drinking is a social activity in real life and it
would be nice if the concept were expanded in the Sims games as well.

They do do it to an extent with the coffee bar on community lots. They
will sit down and talk to others. It would be good if when they got a want
to buy coffe for a sim they bought themselves one as well!
But talking of social activities, I took Mary-Sue Pleasant and the twins on
holiday. They found themselves one day on a lot with a restaurant, and as
they had gone as a group you would think they would sit together. I had
read something about kids not getting fed, but they aren't kids.
Why on earth was it coded that each playable member of a party had to ask to
be seated, separately?? It doesn't happen like that if you take a Group
Downtown.

I thought they did - mine seem to anyway.

You have to make them into a group first - just like you do when you go out
for a meal downtown. They eat together just fine.
Best wishes

I thought I did that when they all went out from the hotel to the comunity
lot together. Obviously it didn't work like that.
But, if you do that why don't the kids get served? I haven't taken any, but
I read they have to steal or eat at the snack bars or room service or
something, can't eat with mum and dad in a restaurant? They do downtown.

Mine eat with their parents - are you sure you are asking them to join the
group?

As I said, I haven't taken any, it was just something I read about kids on
holiday.

They or their parents cannot order food in the hotel restaurant, but they can order food
via room service and from the food stands on other lots. >> Stay informed about: The Sims 1 and 2 various comments |

That's what I read. But if they go out in a group, why not?

Yeah - I guess that's just people not thinking it through - the food on
holiday is like restaurants downtown so it makes sense to treat them the
same way. I suppose they were thinking more like eating at home. I made
some nice pictures this afternoon of Helen Goth eating up her chicken while
sitting with her family in the Golden Dragon Pagoda hotel - I'll post them
over in binaries.
Best wishes

I don't know. In my game the option of ordering food for groups never shows up. Adult sims
can order food but only for themselves. Unless I'm doing something wrong, of course. >> Stay informed about: The Sims 1 and 2 various comments |
