Is there coin mechs that will allow arcade games to accept nickles?

I hate free play, don't trust anybody with tokens, don't like people
sticking their hands inside the game, think a quarter is too much for a
home arcade; but a nickle is throw away money.

I figure I could charge and even kids could afford to play. You can
find a nickle anywhere.

Thanks Hartdaddy-

That hack makes them capable of accepting all coins, I guess that is
still better than free play.

Thanks.

yea its better to have them acccept anything from washers to half
dollars

why not rig up a external coin in button

or just hook a microswitch to the reject

Free play or the coin in button thing, we have done.

Both of these seem to be the favorite game of kids when they rack up
more credits than I ever thought the machine would hold. Then it sits
on the press start screen, example: Arkanoid.

I would rather them have to insert something, I would not mention
washers, only money.

I sell quarter dispensers on EBay and Gun Broker! They work great! I use one myself for doing laundry at the coin operated laundry mat! I sell them for $4 for the first, $3 each additional, the shipping is FREE in the USA no mater how many you buy, and you can pick what color(s)!

www.minicapgun.com (My EBay auctions)

www.minicapguns.com (My Gun Broker auctions)

www.quarterdispenser.com (An EBay quarter dispenser auction)

www.quarterdispensers.com (A Gun Broker quarter dispenser auction)

Here is more info about them:

Quarter dispenser, spring loaded like a pez dispenser, or ammo magazine, and there is a cut away part of the side to see how many quarters you have left...it also has a built in belt clip, and a ring for attaching to key chains, etc (if you want it ultra compact and don't care about the belt clip or ring, it can easily be sawed off, since it only attaches to about a 1/4inch long piece)...it holds 1 roll of quarters...it's made as a party favor for arcade parties, but it also works well for waitresses, and for feeding parking meters, coin operated laundry, vending machines, etc...keeps the change organized, compact, quiet, and it's more sanitary since change isn't always that clean...you can pick what color you want, they come in green, orange, yellow, and pink. If you don't let me know what color you want, i will pick. (NEW in unopened package)

That is a great idea. A quarter a game is sort of a lot especially if you play for a while. But a nickle you can play all day and spend under a buck.
