Provide a slot load tray for the factory overlays. either manual or
motorized.
or
Get a long roll of overlay material and print out every overlay onto the
roll. Then install a crank (or motor with switch) in the cabinet to change
overlays on demand. Similar to the old overhead transparency project
operation.. More complex but you would not have to keep track of overlays
until a new game was added.
or
As an alternate method I guess the Vectrex itself could be used with a
decoupled LCD display. Remove/separate the LCD from the backlight and
simply look through the display. Then the display along with a small
computer could be used to provide a programmable overlay for the Vectrex.
This of course would be a complex solution to a simple problem. But fun to
try nonetheless.
Sincerely,
Chris
