I was in a team over the weekend and some guy in the team kept saying he was really lucky when it comes to the roll of the dice..
then later we found a really powerful axe and he won it? He just seemed a bit sure of winning. Is this possible or is he just
lucky like he said?

Some people just have "hot hands". All we can do is curse them under our
breath and wait for the next roll.

No, it's just the 'grass is always greener on the other side'. Rolls
are handled server-side, so no matter what you do or have in your PC,
the server will do the roll.

Sometimes people "cheat" by typing something different than "/random 100"
like they'll input a higher number to increase their odds or something.
Usually it's pretty easy to catch, but when people are instancing and
whatnot it can be missed when everyone is busy doing other things. I was
once in a party with a guy who kept cheating, but he wouldn't take the loot
if he won.

I've done that before but it was along the lines of /roll 10000000000. Then a
real roll. Everyone knew I was just kidding (I had rolled a 1 and a 3 the last
couple rolls).
