Enough about the Addon! What about 1.9?? - I think the title says it all I've heard enough about about the upcoming World of Warcraft Addon What's the dirt on patch 1.9? How are they going to nerf my rogue? How are they going to uber-buff shamans?

What is the AddOn - That allows you to type the name of an item you don't have, to get a clickable link for it. Like if I want to show someone a link. I have AtlasLoot but that only shows sets, instance drops, and world dragons. There are tons of misc...

Which addon is it? - Which addon is it that shows you about stuff in your bags when you put the cursor on the item? That has quit working for me and I need it badly.

Looking for an addon... - Anyone know if there's a nice simple addon that can be set up to give a display of who is missing a buff in a raid? I'm just switching to Grid from CTRA, it's great for most stuff but I had CTRA set up to always display the priest buffs and I'm..

equipmentand it's characteristics?

www.warcrafter.net

Enter your characters name and realm.

It provides you with information about your core abilities, and how
your gear and spec effect them.

Its also not 100% accurate as it appears it is still being worked on.
But it at least gives you an idea. It also has a "gear score" where
it attempts to give your gear some kind of numeral score. I don't
know how this score is generated but it seems to award higher numbers
to epic items simply because they are epic.

There are some addons that at least collect your data.

I'm a fan of "CharactersViewer", which allows you to view banks of
alts ingame, without relogging.

It saves it's data in a lua-array-file. I suppose someone could
write or have written a converter to print out ascii for that.

But I never felt the need to do so.
Why would you need a printout? Copy&Paste to ebay? Wink

You could, of course, bring the alt to the AH, allowing you to
directly compare AH items with what you are currently wearing. I
think you have to hold in shift while hovering over an item in the AH
to show what you currently have.

Of course, you could also save yourself the gold and completely avoid
the AH.

To take to AH to shop for better gear for an alt.

I find it impossible to remember the specs on my current armor when I'm
looking at getting better stuff. So I open my character and item by item
look at my armor and weapons and write down the specs with my high tech pen
and paper.

Not difficult certainly, but it would be better if there was a way to just
print out the info on my characters gear.

Seems odd that I'm sitting here using a high tech computer to play a state
of the art online game and have to resort to pen and paper to get basic
info.

=====================
True but I use a banking alt for the AH and all alts send excess gold
over 2 g to the banking alt in order to accrue money to buy mounts and
better equip. Good equip does not drop often, especially at lower levels.
And survival is much easier if I get better armor / weapons.

Using a banking alt also saves travel money / time not having to fly from
various parts of the world to main cities with an AH.

But, since my banking alt has a severe case of the dumbass, he can't
remember the stats on the characters he is buying for.

These two addons working together might be just what you need.

Check out:
EquipCompare http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/166/
and CharactersViewer. http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/316/

EquipCompare will show you the item(s) you have equipped when you
hover over an item in the AH (or vendor, quest reward book, etc).
Nothing too exciting here since a version of it is built into the
Blizzard UI now.

However, when used with CharactersViewer, you can click on a pull-down
menu to choose the character you want to buy for, and the items in the
AH would be compared to your items, but pressing the Alt key will
compare the items to the character you selected.

Very nice for using an AH mule to do your buying.

===============================
Thanks, I already had Character Viewer and EquipCompare but didn't
realize it would work that way.

Tried it but couldn't get the alt key to act the way you describe nor
would the AH let me have the character window open and the AH window at
the same time. Must have done something wrong.

But ... better yet ... I discovered that if I used the Character Viewer
to look at an alt before opening the AH ... then it compared items I
hover over in the AH to the viewed character instead of the buying
character.

Works real nice.

Now I feel double dumb that I hadn't figured that out.

Think my next alts name will be dumbass.
