The cheat is
censorgridsize 0
not what you typed.
And if you have a new version/pressing of the game, an expansion pack, a
patch or one of the content packs then most likely this cheat has been
disabled by EA/Maxis.
Some months ago some extreme right wing lawyer got his knickers in a knot
about nudity in games and how immoral this was. A Sims player emailed him a
bogus "report" about there being detailed exposed genitalia seen in the Sims
base game without custom content. The lawyer didn't check the facts but ran
with it and ended up with a bit of egg on his face when it was exposed that
he had been frothing at the mouth about Ken and Babie dolls, not detailed
genitalia depictions. But since their game was brought into such a negative
spotlight EA and Maxis had to disable the nudity cheat. So this is mostly
likely what you are seeing - a disabled nudity cheat.
So either go for the nudity patch someone pointed out or get yourself a
custom skin.
