hi,all...finally got hold of a faster system capable of running d3.had the
demo for a few months and finally loaded it up,but the graphics setup seemed
stuck on 1600 by 1200 and totally unplayable.so i went and bought the full
game on cd,rushed home and loaded the 3 cd`s in.then it asks for cd1
again,and loads some more files.when i click on shortcut,it comes up with
something like `can`t find doom 3 disk 1`...uninstalled and tried again-same
thing....after waiting these few months,well i`m pretty pissed off!!
my system is a little bit old by todays standards,but is above the minimum
requirements
athlon xp 2600+,512 ddr ram,ati radeon 9200 128mb video direct x
9.0b,windows xp pro
my thinking is that it`s windows,in that i also purchased the old game
`IL76 sturmovick` and when i click that shortcut,it can`t find the cd
either...please someone shed some light on this...thanks :-}

OK, sorry if this sounds like a stoopid question but better safe than
sorry - you do know you have to have disk 1 in the drive in order to play
(unless you download a no-cd crack)...

yep,sure did....asked the same question on newsgroup for `windows xp` and
amongst all the abusive replies (i DARED to mention a game and thought XP
was at fault) i recieved 1 reply from a kindly gent who suggested that D3
(and a few other games)have an anti-piracy thing built-in that reads hdd and
looks for any sort of cd-burning software eg. NERO,ADAPTEC etc.(so i
formatted and put XP on again-this time without my cd burner plugged in and
only my cd player)AND GUESS WHAT....bugger me,it works...he was
right!!!!!but the full game runs unplayably sluggish (just like the demo
did)and i`m thinking that its jammed on max resolution...even if i click on
640 by 480 and NO to fullscreen and `apply changes` it still looks too good
for min.res and stays in full screen ...if i go to D3 folder and right-click
on all 3 items,click properties then un-click read-only and apply etc. it
still goes back to `read-only`....is that what`s jamming the res. onto
max????this is a game i`d been looking forward to,and i`m very
disappointed...any help with the graphics problem is appreciated ( the ATI
card SHOULD be more than sufficient) many thanks :-}
