When they talked about the expansion they said the reason for the new
chr was there were not enough warriors in the game.
Is this true?
At the same time I have seen warriors in outlands that take forever to
kill anything, another reason is the respec for everything ?
personally I feel that respec and mounts are WAY overpriced >> Stay informed about: bliz was saying not enough warriors |

I have just last night managed to get my warrior to 70. They are
quite a slow and painful class to level. I have already levelled a
shaman to 70, that was quite quick and easy, a rogue, also quick and
easy, and a hunter, don't even go there on that one, hunter levelling
is on a whole new level of easy.
Like you said, we take a long time to kill mobs, tend to have to eat
or bandage every few mobs, and a lot of the time while levelling, two
mobs means death. Its also quite hard to escape, piercing howl in the
fury tree certainly helps, but if you pull adds in a fight, it often
ends in death.
I tend to agree on the respec cost as well. I would be quite happy to
tank the odd heroic here and there after my warrior had the gear for
it, but there is no way I am going to respec just to run a PuG in a
heroic. Though I guess normal mode would be ok to tank in PvP spec.
Even so, I think there are plenty of warriors around, I just don't
think any of them are particularly interested in tanking. Tanking in
a PuG instance is a fairly thankless job, it is also stressful, and
people do not make it easy on you. My guess is that most warriors are
tanking runs for their guild or PvPing. Which is what my warrior
intends to do, spend his life in the battlegrounds and the arena. >> Stay informed about: bliz was saying not enough warriors |

I also did the warrior quest at level 30, so had the whirlwind axe
quite early, realistically you should not be able to do this quest
until you are near level 40.
Most of the time I levelled as two handed fury, improved slam is
great. I will say that warrior levelling is not hard per say, just
harder and slower compared to other classes. My shaman was pulling on
average 500dps while questing in greens from about level 65, and due
to the bursty nature of windfury this could peak out in some fights at
1000. Compare that to my warrior that was managing maybe 300dps and
would have to stop to eat and bandage quite frequently.
The rogue again was very good, I levelled mostly as mutilate spec,
cheap shot, mutilate, wait for some energy, kidney shot, mutilate
mutilate eviscerate, dead.
The hunter was insane, while the shaman probably killed mobs quicker,
which depressed my rogue no end by the way, there was basically no
down time at all. Group quests, no problem, a good hunter can solo
most group quests that require up to 3 people.
And they all had a way of dealing with Adds. The shaman can heal
himself or drop a stoneclaw totem or pop ghost wolf and leg it. The
rogue can vanish, pop evasion, blind and bandage or sprint. The
hunter can trap a mob, or feign death, or stick the pet on the mobs
and then just aspect of the cheetah away. The warrior was much harder
to escape from adds. Piercing howl is quite useful, and intimidating
shout work quite well, but you have the chance of aggroing even more
mobs, and if they run the direction you were planning to escape via,
it can be a bit of an issue.
Then there is the classic problem that I am sure all warriors have had
to deal with at some point. The mob is almost dead, but so are you,
he gets to execute range, execute - parried, hmmm, execute - parried,
white hit - miss, execute - miss. Now its pop a healing potion or
die. >> Stay informed about: bliz was saying not enough warriors |

Warriors and Paladins are by far the hardest classes to level, bc imo
they are the most gear dependent (Spend money on gear, save time).
But for anyone who already has a 70 or a 60, you really should have no
trouble leveling. My first high level character was a PITA to level,
simply because I had never played the game. Once you learn all of the
ins and outs it is easy to level with any class. >> Stay informed about: bliz was saying not enough warriors |

To what end? What is your goal in the game if it not to defeat the

The issue wasn't a lack of warriors, it was a lack of tanks. The
purpose of introducing the death knight as a 4th class capable of
tanking was to increase the number of available tanks. Chances are,
most death knights will end up speccing for DPS instead, making those
of us playing a class with no tanking ability pulling our hair out
when we need a tank.
As far as warriors and their rate of killing mobs, it all comes down
to spec and gear. Warriors are highly gear dependent. A prot warrior
in prot gear trying to solo grind mobs will spend a very long time
killing that mob. With DPS gear a prot warrior can get by. Speccing
for DPS and wearing DPS gear is the fastest way for a warrior to solo,
but comes at the cost of decreased tanking ability.
Its a trade off really. A prot spec warrior may not be able to solo
very well, but when he needs a group for something, say an instance,
he is going to have a much easier time finding a group than a DPS
warrior would. A DPS warrior may be able to go out and solo grind
mobs with ease, but when looking for a group he is going to get passed
over by more established DPS/CC classes.
The point of a spec and the associated cost is to create your own
character and make good decisions for your character and not be
jumping around from spec to spec depending on what situation you are
anticipating. If you like soloing with a warrior, spec DPS. If you
like grouping, spec prot. And with the ease of collecting gold at
present, the 50g cap on respecs is a bit low. Anyone can go grind up
that gold in less than an hour and go respec. 50g doesn't carry the
same weight it did pre-TBC, so the respec cost should be uppped a bit.
As far as the cost of mounts goes, its one of the best ways to fight
inflation caused by an endless gold supply. With planning, its easy
to have the gold you need at 40 and 60 for the respective riding
training at those levels. They even made it cheaper recently, as by
60 most people are at least revered with their home faction, giving
them a 15% discount on the training, 510g instead of 600g with no
rep. 225 training is only 800g, and unless you spend gold like its
going out of fashion, most people have the 800g + 100g for the mount
at 70. If they don't, quests completed at level 70 award more gold,
so its fairly quick and easy to grind up the gold you need for 225
training. 300 training is expensive because its not meant for people
to just get. Its meant to be a reward for hard work and patience.
Save your gold instead of spending it at the AH and eventually you
easily have the 5000g needed for the training. That 5000g is a hefty
removal of gold from circulation.
Basically, if you want everything just handed to you, go play on a
private server where things don't work the way they are supposed to,
and vendors sell the T6 and Merciless Gladiator gear for a few
copper. If you want a game to challenge you with an objective that
requires some thought and planning to achieve, quit whining and play
the game. >> Stay informed about: bliz was saying not enough warriors |

I don't know. I'm levelling a war and I don't think it's so hard. Maybe
it's because I spend more time on instances then doing quests, so maybe
it's all about a different way to level. Actually I don't have any
problem to find a group for wherever, I just need to ping the LFG
channel.

I have levelled my warrior to 60 just before TBC came and I have no idea
what are you talking about, they are very fast to lvl as fast as any other
class...
Maybe you didnt level yours right? I have put my talent points very
carefully going arms ofc (since fury without raid gear just S U C K S
without sick hit rating). I even remember people tried to gank me several
times and noone of my lvl managed to do it.
Another important thing is the weapon... did you get ALWAYS the best weapon
possible? I had a slow blue weapon from lvl 30 to 60 and it did miracles. At
lvl 30 I did the warrior quest, at 40 I bought some blue in AH, at 47 I got
a blue polearm and ofc at 51 AV polearm, I remember I went from 30-40 so
easy it looked like cheating with that axe. The weapon must not be faster
than 3,5 and must be a 2h ofc.
My opinion is that warriors are not so simple as people thought, there are

Ok, now THAT is totally ridiculous, as any veteran player can tell you.

Avoiding ganks is of little significance to leveling (and zero on a PVE
server).

If you think warriors level as easily as Hunters, Rogue, Warlocks, and
Mages, your opinion on anything in the game is suspect.

This is assuming an Arms/MS build. Since MS always takes the same
amount of rage and has a 6 second cooldown, how often you can MS is
independent of the weapon type. Assuming 2 weapons with about the same
DPS< the slower weapon will do more damage with each MS. The same is
true for whirlwind.
At lower levels where you're mainly using Heroic strike, you want a
fast weapon instead since HS doesn't work as an instant attack.

Ive been surprised.
Originally I thought that warrior was the fast burner. It rushes thru the
early levels. You can wear and use almost anything you find. I figured my
warrior was going to be my leader and bast collector for being able to go
anything and survive.
BUT as you say, that doesnt seem to pan out later on. The "obvious" pros
and cons of the class dont hold out for some reason.

I went arms to have less misses possible.

So for leveling a PvE warrior, what do you guys think is better? My 36
human warrior has Morgan Ladimore's sword with dmg enchant as my two-
handed, and I'm still using my 2 Butcher's Slicers, both with firey
enchant, as my dual-wield and single hand weapons. Can't remember the
name of the shield I use when single handing but it was a quest
reward. I seem to get best results with Ladimore's sword, but dual-
wielding the butchers slicers works pretty well for the kill-quick
mobs (except fire elementals <ugh>). I'm pretty much a hybrid spec at
this point, more points in arms than anything else. I'd like to tank
some instances, but I don't want to respec every time an instance come
up. Should I stick with mostly arms spec? >> Stay informed about: bliz was saying not enough warriors |
