black screen (yes)

Daggerfall, Windows XP Pro.

No, not during install. I found enough information how to do it, I have
sound set up.

But I'm unable to run. After running the shortcut made by VDMSound i
get a message in a text mode ,,Daggerfall is now loading'' and that's
it. I can alt-tab to Windows and kill it.

Does anyone have an idea what can I do?

I went through lots of pain recently to get Daggerfall running on
Windows XP (was using Windows 2000 until few months ago, no problems
there). The best way I could figure out was to run Daggerfall inside
DosBox, though that needs a fairly powerful computer. You can get Dosbox
at http://dosbox.sf.net
I have a 2.4 GHz Athlon, which is not exactly cutting edge, but it's
fast enough for Daggerfall/Dosbox.
