well, ive been thinking, and i have two choices: assassin or dreadnaught.
dreadnaught is pretty much invulnerable in hand to hand when fighting basic
troop, but an assassin can be taken down by small arms fire.

however, an assassin can get in close, especially a calidus, which can ruin
your day but good.

my dreadnaught gets a ws 5, and has an assault cannon. any thoughts?

Is this for your Grey Knights? It really depends on how you play your
army.

The assassin would be great fror that nice stealth kill, but if you're
looking for a good amount of antipersonnel, go with the dreadnought.

Me, I'd probably go for the Callidus just to see how the "kingslayer
attempt" plays out.

it's not really a big deal if it doesn't, since any firepower that goes into
taking down a dreadnought isn't going into taking down GK infantry, which
are always gonna do the bulk of your killing.

I agree with Al here. The Dreadnought makes a scary target and can
still get some good licks in. If it does get across the table,
awesome! If it doesn't, no big deal, all that fire's avoiding your
Grey Knights. You also could use the anti-tank support it brings too,
unless you've got other vehicles and/or supporting IG with heavy
weapons.

plasma cannon used to be my weapon of choice but now that thats not an
option i went with the assault cannon. while it makes the dread a bit less
enticing to me, youre right, the rest of it is fine.

my gk army is in my other thread. i have 3 squads in my platoon all with las
and missile launchers, along with a leman rus, so tankbusting isnt the
biggest priority for my dread

Hmm... Wow, that does make it a bit more of a tough choice. The
Assassin can get in and kill things pretty good while being a heck of
a distraction. The Dreadnought has some killing power and could
attract fire from your Grey Knights. So it's kind of up for grabs
whether you want to drop a distraction right in their laps, or go the
other route.

Though the Callidus' "Whisper in your ear" rule is also pretty darn
useful.

Ok, I know what the rules state about implementing this, but I've always
been bugged by the fact that, for all intents and purposes, you are telling
your opponent that you're using one of these assassins. Kinda defeats the
whole "stealth" aspect of that assasssin, IMO.

Given your list has no Inquisitor or Inquisitor Lord already, you won't be
able to take an assassin unless you free up some more points to fit an
Inquisitor in - see the box next to the assassin entry where it states you
have to have an Inquisitor in your army to take one.

But it did wonders for his political career (at least for a few years), and
the "all gas and not a complete set of balls" seems to have rubbed off on
many modern day politicians.

Well yeah... but you would pretty much do that anyway in a tourney or
friendly game setting anyway, wouldn't you? I mean if anyone asks to see
your army list what would you do?

Even better that the 5E leak says you HAVE to show your list if
asked...
