I think Celsius (Arani Desai-Caulder) from the second
Doom Patrol (DC Comics) was of Indian origin. I think
Marvel Comics' _Contest of Champions_ had a cameo by
an Indian superhero, but the name escapes me.

Wasn't there a super-powered Indian girl in Marvel's New Warriors?
I think she had time distortion powers.

Why would a Christian, Jewish, or Atheist superhero be named after a
Greek, Norse, Roman, or Celtic myth? One would assume that it's because
they like the name and imagery.

Because Christian cultures remain fascinated by their predecessors.
I am unaware of the Indians being particularly fascinated by Amerinds. >> Stay informed about: asian superheroes |

Nothing says that a *particular* Indian couldn't be, though. And, for
that matter, heroes don't always choose their own superhero names --
sometimes they're foisted on them by "the press" or chosen by a team
leader / mentor. Or it's just what they wind up being called by others.
(The new animated "The Batman" show had a bit of that in their recent
introduction of Batgirl -- every time someone would call her "Batgirl",
she'd insist "It's Batwoman!", but no one seemed to pay attention...)
